"This one too is inclined to attempt to close the portal first," says One-Who-Waits. "Although it will give the followers of Zal'Ekthees more time to observe this company and prepare. But perhaps that cannot be prevented."

Well, if we're going to accept their offer, let's go negotiate the terms. Psais and One Who Waits, you are good at spotting subtle clues; watch his face and behavior closely. Yimayngurr, if it seems appropriate, show some teeth and look menacing.

[sblock="ooc"]it seems my diplomacy of 1 is the best in the party![/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Heh, we aren't the most diplomatic bunch, are we.[/sblock]
One-Who-Waits agrees with Grigo. "This one's observations are of limited use, but if this poor observer believes that the other is trying to deceive this company, this one will signal thus." And he makes a small gesture with his finger.

[sblock=OOC]LOL! OK. Call me stupid, but I just got that. BTW: Where's DoM. I think we've decided to go ahead and shut the portal.[/sblock]

[sblock=Holiday Weekend]I'll be out Friday - Sunday. Back Sunday night.[/sblock]

Grigo stalks back into the meeting room, drawing himself to his full though still insignificant height. The disk with its sad burden follows behind him like an obedient puppy.

Very well, we have discussed your offer and your situation. Although we find your beliefs and practices distasteful, we accept that your friend's attack on us was motivated by fear and not malice. We see your cult as at worst a minor local danger, which people can easily avoid once warned of it. The star-beings, on the other hand, are a threat to reality itself and they must be stopped.

He pauses for breath, and to observe the cultist's reactions.

We will assist you to close the portal and drive off or kill the alien invaders, but only under these conditions:

You will first escort us safely to the surface by the quickest and safest route. You may bring as many of your followers as you feel necessary to ensure that we will keep our word, but we will not travel separated, bound or disarmed. Once at the surface, I will leave with our dead friend here, to deliver him to his people and to report on the situation, and then return; the rest will wait inside with you. When I return, you may teach us the ritual to seal the portal and lead us to it. We will destroy the invaders and close their door. Then we go home.

Your secret lair will be known to the outside world; you may deal with that as you wish. That is the price of our help, and it will be paid before we start. We will let the local powers know of your service and cooperation in saving the world from this threat.

Should we fail to return, those on the surface will know that we were overcome, either by the foreign monsters or by your treachery, and they will come with enough force to deal with either eventuality.

As the gnome spells out the groups conditions, Psais watches the necromancer very carefully, picking up on the slightest of changes in his expression.
