Adv: A Simple Dungeon Crawl (DM: DarwinofMind Judge:renau1g)

The necromancer grumbles and curses then snaps his fingers and 2 more ghouls approach.

"This is simply unacceptable, this simply won't do. I will lead you to the surface, but you will not go alone, you will be followed."

He reluctantly leads you down the hall and up a set of stairs, this lead down a long passage and up another set of stairs, you pass several more ghouls along the way.

The passage leads out into a small cave that opens into a wooded glen.

"The temple is that way, past the glen, and up the hill, the gnome goes alone, with the body and will be followed"

Certainly, you may accompany me if you have no fear. Grigo gives the necromancer a surprised look, as if he certainly SHOULD be afraid to leave the safety of his dungeon. If you send unliving minions, don't expect to get them back; those at the temple will probably destroy them on sight before I can explain their presence. Friends, any advice or suggestions before I leave?

Hi all, I've received a request from your DM to take over as RL has snuck up and grabbed him. It'll take me a little bit to look things over and get caught up. Please bear with me :) [/sblock]

Ok, I've tried to get caught up and want to ensure I understand where we're at.

You've been contracted by Stefan Olender to recover the body of David Thorman from the ruins.

You entered the ruins and battled some zombies and a necromancer, defeating them quite handily.

You continued on and ran into a bridge that had some fell taints on it. They gave you a bit more trouble, but you were still victorious.

You saw a massive battle between the taints and the undead.

You retreated and ended up finding the body of the nobleman, although in pretty rough shape.

Rockslide blocked your return passage to the surface.

Grigo made a floating disc to carry the corpse.

You decide to go towards the undead vs the "spiders"

You speak to a necromancer who offers you a deal, you close a portal to the Far Realm in exchange for your lives/safe passage to the surface.

Grigo proposed that he would take the body to the surface to fulfill your mission to the nobleman.

Currently, you were just just led to a small cave that opens into a wooded glen, where Grigo was informed that the temple is not far away.

Is that a fair understanding of the facts to date?

"I shall accompany you as far as the the glen an watch as you enter the temple on top of the hill. Two of my ghouls will accompany you to the temple, they will wear cloaks to disguise themselves. If you make any attempt against me, know that I will destroy the scroll I carry that will aid you in closing the portal and the undead will become hostile towards you instantly. You only have twenty minutes once you enter the temple, else I will assume you have absconded on me and will take action..." the necromancer hisses to Grigo, letting the unfinished threat hang in the air.

He gestures for a few more ghouls to guard the remaining adventurers, leaving them instructions that if the group moves to exit the ruins after them, they are to be attacked.

Grigo carries the body of the nobleman on his magical disc through the glen and up the hill, the necromancer stopping in a copse of trees that will grant him sight of the temple, but allow him to remain unseen. The ghouls accompany Grigo up the hill, the cloaks doing an adequate job of hiding their features, but the smell is a giveaway. You climb the hill and reach the temple without issue. A pair of young men carrying clubs watch as you approach and spot the body you're carrying. One of them runs inside while the other rushes forward. "David!" he cries as he moves towards you. "Come, Stefan is inside. We must get out of sight." the man says, watching the cloaked figures carefully, "Friends of yours?" he says, sniffing the air.

Inside, Stefan is waiting for you, the look of relief is evident on his, but his smile quickly deteriorates as he sees only Grigo of the five that entered. "What happened? Where are you friends?" he asks

Back at the cave Psais lowers himself to the floor and assumes the lotus position and begin intoning prayers for Grigo's safe return.

They are safe, and awaiting my return. We still have business in the catacombs. And these things are not friends, but they are part of that business.

There is a cult of Zal'Ekthees hiding down there, creating undead horrors. We attacked them when we found them, and would have continued, but it turns out their existence is necessary, at least for now.

There is an open gate to a place beyond all that is real, and that gate spews forth tentacled, slime-covered bits of animated madness. I don't know whether it was opened by the cultists or not; the fact that they have a ritual to close it leads me to believe they opened it without realizing the consequences. Anyway, the creatures that come from that dread place are at war with the Zal'Ekthees worshippers, and the monsters are winning. If they break through the necromancers, they will threaten the surface world in a way the tiny cult never could.

So we have agreed to help the cultists to close that gate, and our band will leave their hideout and leave them unmolested. The cost of our help was David's return, and the exposure of their secret. You may choose to ignore them, isolate them, treat with them or attack them, but now you know they are there.

Zal'Ekthees cults are a menace, but they are a known menace. These new things are much scarier. I must return to assist my comrades. If you don't see us within two days, then you will know that we were overcome either by the alien terrors... or by the necromancers' treachery. In either case, you must take action to keep the evil contained.

If you have anything that would aid us in this fight, an enchanted item or some healing potions, I would gratefully accept it. If not, then at least give us your prayers.

[sblock="ooc"] I can't access Grigo, my links don't work, so I don't know his diplomacy score, but I'd like to roll to try to get some material help from Stefan [/sblock]
