Spirit Naga's cast spells as a 7th level sorcerer: (6/7/7/5; save DC 13 + spell level)

If I ramp him up to 27 hit dice does this increase his caster level? Or do I need to add sorcerer hit dice to get his casting ability up?

You need to add sorcerer levels that would stack with the current sorcerer level (so you advance by class, contrary to the advancement line). In both cases, it is debatable if (1) you can technically advance the naga by class, and (2) that the sorcerer levels stack. One thing is for sure, that advancing by HD does not improve the sorcerer casting abilities of the naga, except for a possible increase in Charisma based on stat increases or additional treasure.
 

Well, I would assume that adding sorcerer levels would be OK, and I would also assume that they would stack with the 7th level sorcerer, since his spells per day are that of a 7th level sorcerer. :) I just want to make sure that, since I'm going to jack him up to 27 hit dice there isn't a conflict of sorcerer levels when I add those on top of his 27 naga hit dice. :]
 

No conflict, but you should advance the naga by his racial HD first. Note that racial HD advancement is an uncommon specimen, 27HD being pretty much the strongest natural spirit naga out there. After the advancement to 27HD (including size increase, stat increase, skills, and feats), then add in the number of sorcerer levels you want. I'd treat the sorcerer levels as associative for purposes of CR.

Agreed. If I added 4 levels of sorcerer hit dice he should come out to a CR 17 or so creature.

You allow sorcerers to benifit from quicken?

I'd say drop one of the 3rd level attacks and pop Fly in.

empower gets good for scorching ray.

if it has a charming gaze, charm person is kinda redundant. Shield is fun.

true strike? it has a 20+ bab for a power attack

Great suggestions! I fixed the quicken...

You're right, I fixed those spells. But I'll be maximizing that scorching ray, you get 72 points guaranteed right?
