Advancing monsters

Hi ENworlders!

Just a couple of quick questions, which I hope someone can help me with.

When advancing creatures, do creatures with single attacks gain iterative attacks if their HD increase sufficiently?

For example, if I advance a gray ooze (which normally has 3 HD and 1 slam attack) to 8 HD, does it gain a second iterative attack (this is using the cleric BAB, as suggested in both the Advancing Monster section and the ooze description in the MM) or does it still only get a single attack?

Also, if you increase, say, an ochre jelly, so that it goes from large to huge, does the size/reach become 15 ft./5 ft. or 15 ft./10 ft.?

I hope I've explained myself sufficiently!

Thanks in advance.

No, but they have 1.5 Str damage bonus instead of the normal Str bonus damage.

Size and reach both increase since they are directly related to size. In this case it would be 15'/10' since the ooze is considered to be a long, not tall creature like say a giant.

NB you can always add additional attacks to an advanced creature. When you decide that your ooze needs more than one attack, drop the bonus damage and add a second slam attack.

Creatures get normal BAB iterative attacks with manufactured weapons, however, with natural weapons they never gain iterative attacks regardless of BAB.

Makes sense... but is that actually said somewhere?

EDIT: Ah, found it in the combat chapter...

Table: Creature Size and Scale

Creature Size - Space - Natural Reach
Fine - 1/2 ft. - 0
Diminutive - 1 ft. - 0
Tiny - 2-1/2 ft. - 0
Small - 5 ft. - 5 ft.
Medium - 5 ft. - 5 ft.
Large (tall) - 10 ft. - 10 ft.
Large (long) - 10 ft. - 5 ft.
Huge (tall) - 15 ft. - 15 ft.
Huge (long) - 15 ft. - 10 ft.
Gargantuan (tall) - 20 ft. - 20 ft.
Gargantuan (long) - 20 ft. - 15 ft.
Colossal (tall) - 30 ft. - 30 ft.
Colossal (long) - 30 ft. - 20 ft.

So 15'/10' is definitely right.

Quick responses!

Many thanks for your input, as it has helped clarify this for me.

And the Creature Size Scale table is excellent! It will be very useful for future reference.

Once again, many thanks!

...and there's no reason why a huge ooze schouldn't be able to attack with 2 or more pseudopods but do not forget to adjust the CR for those extra attacks. ;)
