The free adventure Scions of Elemental Evil available on D&D Beyond features the heroes from the 1980s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon as pregenerated characters--plus a new character, Niko. In the adventure, the characters are all now adults, rather than the kids who featured in the original cartoon series.
  • Bobby (Barbarian 4; Path of the Berserker)
  • Diana (Monk 4; Warrior of the Open Hand)
  • Eric (Fighter 4; Champion)
  • Hank (Ranger 4; Hunter)
  • Niko (Cleric 4; Life Domain)
  • Presto (Wizard 4; Evoker)
  • Sheila (Rogue 4; Thief)
Fans of the old show may recall that each of the heroes had a magical item, and these items are present and correct in the adventure! Here are the basics, although you'll need to grab the adventure for the full details.

Bobby's Thunderous Greatclub
  • Increases Strength to 20 when attuned.
  • +1d8 Thunder damage to creatures; +3d8 Thunder damage to unattended objects.
  • Clap of Thunder creates sound out to 300 feet; can also create 30-ft cone of thunder (creatures make DC 15 Strength save or knocked prone).
  • Earthquake creates earthquake in 50-ft radius. Structures take 50 damage; creatures make DC 20 Dexterity save or knocked prone. Can also create 30-ft deep, 10-ft wide fissure.
Diana's Quarterstaff of the Acrobat
  • +2 attack and damage.
  • Emits dim light to 10-ft (can be extinguished).
  • Can change form to 6-inch rod, 10-ft pole, or quarterstaff.
  • Advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks.
  • +5 AC bonus once per rest as a reaction to one attack.
  • Thrown 30/120 ft, returning to hand after the attack.
Eric's Shield of the Cavalier
  • +2 AC in addition to shield's regular bonus.
  • Bash deals 2d6 + 2 + Strength modifier Force damage and pushes creatures 10 feet (knocks creatures of your size or smaller prone).
  • Reaction to create 5-ft protective field which offers complete protection while concentrating; useable once per day.
Hank's Energy Bow
  • +1 attack and damage. Deals Force damage.
  • Arrow emits 20-ft radius bright light, 20-ft dim light.
  • Ranged attack to restrain; DC 15 Strength save or Restrained for 1 minute (DC 20 save to break free).
  • Arrow can teleport a willing target to a space within 10-feet of you.
  • Flurry of arrows makes a 60-ft ladder up a wall for 1 minute.
Niko's Mace
  • Casts Summon Celestial, 6 charges, regains 1d6 at dawn.
Presto's Hat of Many Spells
  • Is a spell casting focus; any spell gains the Somatic component.
  • Can cast spell you don't know with an Intelligence (Arcana) check of 10 + spell level (must be a level you could normally cast and still requires relevant slot). Once per rest. If you fail the check, a random effect happens instead.
Sheila's Cloak of Invisibility
  • Become invisible for 1 hour. 3 charges, regains 1d3 charges at dawn.

Koloth

What about Uni the unicorn? As many times as it was a plot device in the cartoon, it deserves some kind of character sheet.

With those weapons, one has to wonder why Venger even thought it worth his time, much less effort to try to get them.

It would seem that he would spend more time trying to get an artifact or two rather than some weapons fit for lower level characters.
It's because they were mcguffins as well as magic weapons.

And I wouldn't call +2 (plus additional powers) equipment fit for low level characters! In a system where the highest bonus is +3, +2 is pretty powerful.

Peter BOSCO'S

Adventurer
I played Sheila in last nights adventure at my FLGS, BOSCO'S. Her (Legendary) cloak grants Invisibility "for one hour" with no other conditions. The DM and I interpreted this to mean that attacking would not make her visible, so I spent the whole adventure Sneak Attacking everyone with Advantage, bonus Action Stealth checking with Advantage, and all the enemies unable to find the person who had stabbed them. Good times.

I would rule that it grants Invisibility as the spell of that name. attacking without becoming visible would require it to grant Improved Invisibility.

Highest bonus is actually +4 (Legendary) as per the DMG 2014.

And, I'd think the way Venger was after the items...they'd be at least artifact level. He was taking on Tiamat on his lonesome! His daily expendables are probably more valuable than the weapons the have the heroes using!

You are right, they are macguffins, but the cartoon always had them like they were artifact level macguffins, which is why Vengar was always after them.

Well, in the cartoon he was able to combine their magic with his to boost his strength. He didn’t use them individually, but all together as some type of supercharger

Spreading holiday cheer.
Nico’s is just crazy good.

Save up charges for big fight, unleash 6 angels.

Also, seeing since their classeee kind of reflect who they are IRL. Was she the weird overly religious kid? And what IRL deity or philosophy does she follow? Is her earth god granting her powers now? If it’s a fantasy god stepping in, does she know a different god pretending to be her god?

Wouldn’t it have been easier to make a Druid character or Bard instead?

I like to think she’s super into her earth religion and some fantasy god is granting her powers. Be some interesting story telling when she finds out some pagan gods has been helping her all along instead of her earth deity.

Would she go back to her not-power granting deity on earth? Or stay in d&d land where her faith is truely rewarded?
