Lhavarr in the lead, steps to the side, smiling at the well dressed one. "Sorry to intrude on ya's. We just passin' through."

The half-elf tries to judge their reaction, as well as the mutt's. If these guys were foes, the dog would let them know.

Johanna stood beside Lhavarr, keeping her spear slung across one shoulder so as to look a bit less threatening. Her smile was genuine enough- intelligent beings meant at least the possibility of a useful exchange of information. Her voice was friendly and confident, perhaps a bit louder than was necessary. "We're looking for someone, a friend of a friend- he might be hurt. If you could help us, we would be grateful."

Vimak stands tall, trying to figure out what is going on. The bugbear is obvious is his desire not to be interrupted and seems a bit impatient. The older man, however, seems less agitated, though that could be because he hides his emotions better. However, they both are standing conspicuously, as if they are hiding something. [Success]

After Vimak whispers in his ears, Elkrysn attempts to draw the two into conversation. The bugbear huffs, but the gentleman answers, We are spelunking, good fellow. Surveying, as it were. And what bring such a well-armed group as yours? [Success]

Sapo stays in the back, eyes open. It is then she notices that the two are blocking something with their bodies. It appears to be a shard of metal or crystal. It is partially in the water, but she cannot tell more from this angle. She quickly whispers this to the others. [Success. Dungeoneering and & Arcana now open, esp for the item]

Lhavarr attempts to move forward, but a quick grunt from the bugbear has the guards stand at attention. The older man puts his hand up to stop them. But it is clear: They do not want you back there. [Success]

As Johanna discusses the boy, the bugbear casts a glance at the older man. He turns to the group. Ah, a rescue mission. We haven't seen any boys, I'm afraid. None today. The guards look at each other uncomfortably, however. Something Johanna said hit a nerve. [Success]

Torqua ignores the discussion as she focuses on the fluid. It certainly was not natural, but the way it discolored the water suggested it was tainting it. A small lizard swimming through it comes through the other side with what she swears is an extra eye. [+2 to Dungeoneering checks]

"Well, if you are simply surveying, might you tell us where it is that you have not seen the boy so that we may avoid those areas? We are in a slight bit of a hurry as well. We would appreciate it if your guards were to move out of the way. Our tracking animal believes that the boy has come down this way." Elkrysn points in the direction of the "artifact."

OOC: I'm not absolutely sure if this would be bluff (hiding true motives) or diplomacy (persuasion), so I'll use the lower of the two. Bluff: (1d20+12=27)

The bugbear gets testy when the drow tries to fast talk through, snapping his fingers to get the guards attention. This time, the old man does not call them off, but he does keep them from raising their weapons. That... will not work. It likely is not safe. [Success]

The motion of the bugbear allows Vimak to get a closer look at the shard Sapo spotted. It seems to be a something like looks both crystalline and metal, a purple thing that tincts and sparkles. He knows every major mental known to man or dwarf and this is not natural. Very not natural. [Success]

The bugbear seems to suspect something...

[Someone not Vimak or Elkrysn will need to make a Stealth, Bluff, or similar distraction check at this point.]

Lhavarr finally speaks, "I don't appreciate bein' lied to, and I think you fella's feels the same way. If yous guys are just lookin' to hit it big, that's fine. But if maybe you saw the boy and you didn't wanna mess with whatever had 'im that's fine too. Just let us know where 'es at, and we can leave."

"Oh dear me, I don't believe I've had the chance to introduce myself." The fat sorceress in the back says. Pushing her way through the crowd, she gets right in front of the other group and grabs the hand of whoever's closest, shaking it in frienship. The sight of the massive, bragging woman should allow for someone with a hint of subtley to do something sneaky. "I'm Torqua Debu, the Great Sorceress, the Fatromancer, the Wide Witch, The Bellychanter, the Massive Mage, the Bloated Beauty, the Inflated Illusionist, the Fat Firebreather, the Colossal Conjuer, the new hero of Asamadar and the Mistress of Magical Thunder Thighs."
