Thinking that if Wat is correct and if they are fighting what might be an illusion, Rain tries to combat it with a positive action. She probes with the hooks of her grappling hook into the lower roots of the dead hedge with the intention of pulling on the rope once they find purchase.

The grappling hook easily becomes tangled in the roots of the hedge. Rain sets to pulling on the rope quickly realising that the roots are powerful and will require some effort to tear from the ground. She sees no signs that the hedge is an illusion. It most certainly does not feel like an illusion to her.

Wat shook his head. "I said it was a trick, not an illusion. Charms beguile the mind to dangers that are all too real. Stand back..."

Wat aimed the jeweled tip of his staff at the dead-looking hedge and fired a blast of lightning directly into the center of it.

As Rain tugs futilely upon the rope Wat begins blasting holes into it. After some concentrated targeting he is able to blast a small hole all the way through the hedge. The hole is rather small however and in the middle of the hedge. Only the pixie would be small enough to attempt to get through it. Making a person sized hole would require some serious taxing of energy.

GM: Sir Flibertigibbet could attempt to get through that hole blasted by Wat.

Making a new person sized gap will require sustained blasting: Make an endurance check if that is what you want to do

"Hold, and I shall investigate the other side," says Sir Flibbertigibbet. "It will take but a moment." He darts over to the hole and looks through.

The pixie can see that there is a clearing on the other side of the thorny hedge and then a second thorny hedge that will need to be traversed as well. Other than the hedge itself he detects no signs of danger.

"There is a clearing, and on the other side another hedge like this one," says Sir Flibbertigibbet. "I see nothing else; it could take much work to blast through all of these barriers."

Wat's sustained blast of air pushes the thorny branches of the thorny bush slightly further apart, making the hole already created slightly bigger, and making passage for all at that point slightly less treacherous if you choose to make the most of the opportunity.
