The passageway continues onward for over a quarter of a mile, sloping gently down, and broken by a few flights of stairs. The walls of the passage are of mortared stone, covered in many places with a thin layer of some sort of green vegetation. At one point, just after the stairway, there is a tiny vent at the top of one of the walls, covered with a grate. At another, water leaks through the wall, flowing in a trickle down the stones before disappearing through cracks in the floor. After the fourth flight of stairs, rather longer than the others, the passage stops sloping downward and continues on the level.

The sound of voices can also be heard.[sblock=perception DC 20]"Now, oh Gluplik, master of the depths, we have brought your bride, and the gifts as promised. Accept her and our bargain is sealed."[sblock=perception DC 25]This is followed by a deep, indistinct rumbling voice.[/sblock][/sblock][/sblock][/sblock]
[sblock=nature DC 15] The floor of the passage here is probably right about at the level of the water in the harbor.[/sblock]
 


Dante draws his weapons and Virgil's usual bumbling demeanor shifts to one of tense alertness. Dante raises one hand to motion for everyone to stop and tilts his head as though listening.

"A savok speaks to the Gluplik ahead," Dante whispers. "This one thinks the crossix'savok Dante and others seek is being given to the Gluplik shath'kranakus'anolos... in the here-now-place just ahead."

Dante sneaks up like a ninja, and darts his head quickly around the corner to see what's ahead, then quickly pulls back.
