(Adventure) A hunting trip

Katherine easily remembers where she saw the massive form at the wood's edge, pointing the spot out to Telerin and Remi.
As the Companions head there, Telerin spots massive prints half obscured by rain and mud, yet clearly leading from the rear of the barn to the woods. Remi and Katherine easily follow these to the point that Katherine claims to have seen something watching her from the woods edge.Aranel and Telerin keeping watch, the Elf's eyes a boon in this dismal half-light, the Druid and his Wolf ready for anything presenting danger.

Katherine grows excited as she spots a trail leading back into the woods, clear where the Ormfene didn't bother to hide it's trail, almost as if it was daring the hunters to follow it.
Remi bends low, spotting dark blood splattered upn leaves, washing away as he looks, but enough to show that the Ormene is sorely wounded.

"I have one more light left I can cast" Katherine wispered to Remi as they followed the tracks. "But I would save it until we see the beast, or I think it would give it more warning that it would us... Do you have any idea what this thing is?"

When they see or hear any sign of the enemy, katherine will again cast Light on the feathers of her loaded quarrel, but cover the light with her hand until one of the warriors wants to attack.

What Remi (and the others as well) can tell of the tracks is that they are very large, perhaps a creature twice the size of a man, though much hevier than twice the weight. Arenal smells sometghing familiar in the beast's stench, still upon the area, a musty and almost overpowering smell. The scent fades in the rain, even as the identity of the Ormfene does so in Aranel's mind as well, elluding her.
Whitefang, however, seems to have the thing's Scent in his nostrils...

It was...annoying. She had the identity right there at the edge of her mind but couldn't quite reach it. The smell was overbearing, but in the refreshing rain it was easier to deal with.
Having picked up her weapon as they'd made their way here she was trying furiously to remember, while her eyes darted about around her for any sign of danger.

Telerin sheathed his scimitar before drawing his bow and readying and arrow. It would no doubt be more helpful in this situation...he smiled and looked to Whitefang, "Smell something?"
Whitefang glanced up and watched the Druid a moment. Telerin patted the wolf on the head and motioned forward, "If you smell something, lead us to it...don't you go jumping in, though, you hear me?"

OoC:Does Remi have all of the arrows from Bekkle, or is he sharing them out?

IC: Whitefang gives Telerin an 'Of-course-I-won't-go-running-in-like-a-pup-on-his-first-Hunt' look as he pads into the forest, following the Scent of the thing.

The trail leads deeper into the woods, angling slighty uphill as it does so, heading south. To the South-East can be ssen a small ridge, it's looming shape visible to Aranel and Katherine in that it blocks out the dim light of the fading overcast day.

OOC: Is anyone else carrying a longbow? If so, Remi'll share out the arrows, but I thought everyone else had crossbows.

"I think you've got the right idea Kat, don't bring up the light yet.
We don't need it getting the drop on us."

Remi continues with a grin, trying to lighten the mood a bit...
"Well, it's big, walks on two feet, has hands and was smart enough to use the pitchfork as a weapon.
Aside from that, no idea."

OoC: Telerin is listed with a shortbow. D&D doesn't seem to make a distinction (as an archer myself, I find such things as silly as 30 arrows to a quiver and none of the fletching being ruined, but still), so he could use them as well. However, I short bow isn't listed as a Druid proficieny, so...?

OOC: I can only assume that's why he took Martial Wpn Prof(Shortbow) as a feat. :) Anyhow...

(to Telerin)
"Hmm, I think it'd make sense to split these up in case it jumps me and I need to switch to my sword."
Remi then hands three of the arrows to Telerin.

Telerin nodded and took the arrows, looking them over a moment, "A good idea. I hope we can make good use of them..."

OOC: Yep, I took Martial Weapon Proficiency to use the bow. :)
