(Adventure) A Merry Chase *Judge: Uriel

Rinaldo looks a moment at Persephone, confuse, and turn to Zoe. "So, maybe we kill most of them. I suppose, with those events, the guards will come soon to clean the place of the remaining ones. If you really want to find that dragon, we must do it fast, or we will be part of the cleaning, as , a little reminder, we officially have a kidnapped princess with us."

"Ok, so we track it and see whats to be seen." Zoe says. She looks at the hanging pole for a moment then comments, "there doesn't seem to be any evil associated with the item itself..." she reaches forwards pulls at the pole by the non gorey end and is unable to budge it. After a moment, she presses one of the buttons (standing well aside from either end) and it falls out of the air as if an invisible force had finally decided to drop it. Zoe catches it and after a glance at the other two for input, tries the other button, again holding the pole well away. This time the pole suddenly shrinks to only about a foot in length, and the gore on one end falls to the ground with an unpleasant gloop noise. The resulting rod now looks even more familiar to Rinaldo except for the extra button. (the buttons are placed at either end of the shortened rod.) Zoe uses the first button to place it in the air again and does an expereimental pullup. "I can see how an item like this would be useful, especially in pairs... but what is the point of growing and shrinking?" She shakes her head and focuses. "Lets check out the dragon."

(ooc: Rindaldo suspects from the placement that the dead circus member grabbed the rod/pole out of the chest beside her, and can see other items still in it.)

"Just a second, let me check at that chest. There is many advantage to both a long and a short pole, so having one that can be both, it is even more usefull. I think the pole had to be shorten to be place in that chest, maybe there is another one. As you said, in pair, they can be really handy."

Rinaldo check the chest and his content. As he usually do for suspect box, he looks for traps and locks.

Persephone

"Perhaps that's how the pole got bloody. It was used as a weapon. What if you enlongated it when you were pointing it at some awful beast or nasty man trying to have his way with you. Think about it. I'd love to have that."

OOC: Persephone was already looking in that trunk.

Sorry, read your post too fast...

The trunk contains a collar similar to the ones you saw on the various beasts, two more of the buttoned rods, two indentical hats, assorted fancy clothing and a simple looking sack.

OOC: Hey - are you skipping all my girly-girl RP! :p

Persephone, who loves clothes, begins holding up the clothing critically, with comments such as "Oh, much too gaudy for a proper princess." "They think these patterns match?"

She'll examine the two additional rods. Do they each have two button? She'll experiment carefully to see if they can float and extend.

She'll examine the hats and sack and, feeling lucky, cast detect magic on the lot. turning to take into account the rider, the wagon, and any other potential loot.

"Three staff. That's a nice if we need to climb somewhere. Hey, watch out with that, you can harm someone. Stop pointing it at me! Thanks. "

Both of the new rods behave the same as the one you found in the air, and the hats and sack also detect as magic. (since Seph doesn't have any spellcraft she's at a bit of a disadvantage in identifying the specific type.) the clothing seems to be largly for acrobats and while of fancy make is non magical. The only other magic she spots turns out to be two more of the collars, broken on the ground.

as you are completing your investigations, both Seph and Rinaldo hear a stirring to the left of the wagons. A slightly toppled haystack has begun to shake a little, and something large and brown is coming out from where is apparently burrowed to hide....

Persephone

"Oh, criminy. I knew it could smell us princesses...PRINCESS, get behind us!" Persephone slips off her 'subdual' ring, and tries to find cover behind a wagon. Then she'll cast mage armor.

As the monster shakes off it covering hay and looks around, all of you can tell that it is not one of the true greater dragons, but its still a nasty looking beast. A dull, muddy brown in color, it has clawed and distinctly ungraceful looking wings and a viscious barbed stinger on its tail which is whips about in anticipation. A nasty and partially clotted wound runs through its shoulder, and it seems to have little use of its right front leg and wing.

As it gets clumsily to its feet, Persephone and the pricess move partially behind one of the wagons and the sorceress activates her magical protection. Zoe moves a step back while drawing her sword and after a moment of staring at the creature grins in a way that means she has found a foe worthy of Hyrag's wrath. Rinaldo draws his rapier and joins Seph behind the wagon, taking a defensive posture (if you want to do something else in the "prep round" please tell me.)

Initiative order will be Seph, Rinaldo, Wyvern then Zoe. There is ample cover to break up a charge from either side.
