Adventure: A Tale of Two Domains (DM:Luinnar, Judge:renau1g)

Sir Exsixten stares at Brenn and Andras for several seconds, then leaps away.

BACK FLESHIFIED GHOSTS OF OUR SOLUTIONIZED COMPATRIOTS, YOU SHALL NOT HAUNT THE CITIZENS WHILE SIR EXSIXTEN DRAWS BREATH!

He raises his axe as though to strike, but he suddenly seizes up, gears grinding and screeching inside him.

<*DEFINE: DRAW - PRODUCE A PICTURE BY MAKING LINES AND MARKS. *DEFINE: BREATH - AN INHALATION OR EXHALATION OF AIR FROM THE LUNGS. COMBINATION DOES NOT COMPUTE --- IDIOM OVERLOAD, ANALOGY ACTUATOR SHORT, HEURISTIC MAIN BUS WRECK...>

With the party once more rejoined, and the ghosts banished, Brenn took a short breather as he looked around at the group. "What was going on up here? We could hear you shouting and carrying on, but not enough to figure out what was happening... Didn't you notice me pulling on the rope to signal, to pull Andras up? We certainly didn't want to get stuck down there- all kinds of bones and stuff at the bottom, not a friendly place."

As he sheathes his daggers, Jax barks out, "Not so friendly up here, either. We thought you were both dead... Your ghosts were up here and everything. You didn't see them?" He looks directly at Brenn. "Your wraith was really angry! You stay away from me if you die again, 'kay?"

"Some kinda phantoms. Apparitions, lookin' like you an' Andras here. Tried t'pull Heavy Metal here in after ye. They vanished when ye climbed back up," Quagmire adds.

"Andras, how's th'leg? Can ye walk on it? Think magic will heal it?" Quagmire stares like he's never seen a splint before.

OOC: Q's pathetic heal check: 10

Andras grins as he turns towards Quagmire, although his expression turns into a grimace when he ends up putting too much weight on his leg. "Damnit, I mean, yes, I can walk, sort of. Magic would probably be able to help, but it will take more than a simple potion to fix this up." Andras sighs, "Let's just get this done."

ONWARD!

Sir Exsixten strides forward.

OOC: Presumably there's something beyond the pit. If there is, Sir Exsixten will advance towards it. If there isn't, Sir Exsixten will advance towards it.

Quagmire sees that he can do nothing else to aid Andras and follows the rest of the party to the next area of the cavern.

A smooth stone slab blocks your view into the heart of the room ahead. You can see a skeleton hanging from chains on the east side of the room and a manacled corpse is suspended to the west. The air smells of death and decay, but the buzzing of insects one might expect in such a place is noticeably absent. A sense of dread hangs over this place.

Words of power are etched on the stone slab in a tongue that is no longer spoken in this world or the next. Though you cannot read it, it nevertheless speaks to your very soul, bringing long forgotten memories of your past vividly back into your mind.

GM: You may now add a theme to your character. Please let me know when you add one, or if you want to skip adding a theme for now :)

Also don't forget about the Standard Adventurers Theme which was approved.

[sblock=Sir ExSixTen]
You see an image of a mighty kingdom restored from your memory banks. You also recall something about a quest, but that part of the data could not be restored.

On the far side of the slab you see a broken figure of a human woman stretched out upon it. She is held in place by iron bands around her neck, wrists, and ankles which are spiked into place on the slab. Although she may once have been quite lovely, she shows every indication of having been here for some time.

[sblock=Perception=18 (passive or rolled)]
You notice that she is still breathing.

Sir Exsixten suddenly stop and speaks in a whispered voice that sounds almost human. There once was a kingdom, golden towers rising from the forests.

An almost unbearable tone of anguish and loss comes to the voice as Sir Exsixten crumples over clutching his innards, the light on his head dimming to almost nothing. I lost them so long ago... did I fail them? Where are they now? Gods, let me not live if failing my quest led to their doom!

There's a moment of silence. Then the old Sir Exsixten is back straightening up and looking around the room. When he looks back to the group, the spotlight on his forehead flaring up and shining right into everyone's faces like a spotlight. A SLEEPING PRINCESS! SIR EXSIXTEN HAS PREPARED FOR THIS HIS WHOLE LIFE. CITIZENS, WATCH AS THE CHAMPION REPRESENTS!

He walks over to her, pulls open a panel on his side, rummages around, and pulls out a cone-shaped bit of chocolate with a shiny metal wrapper on it. After wiping lint, twigs, and dust from it, he sets it carefully on her lips, leaning forward intently waiting for something to happen.

When it doesn't, he pries the spikes free (or tries).

Jax's thoughts drift back to the streets of Bacarte. To the times when he was forced to find a warm stone alleyway every night or freeze to death. To when the other urchins called him "lizard breath." To the many, many times he cut purses from uppity rich women and pickpocketed wallets from unaware men. Except for the name calling, being an adventurer hasn't been terribly different from those experiences.

Jax cries out in worry. "Gaah! Careful with those spikes! She's still alive." He steps closer to see if there's an easier way to free the woman (like with the key from the statue).

[sblock=theme / updated stat block]Jax's background already has him growing up in the streets (after he got kicked out by his family anyway). Guttersnipe fits and isn't bad mechanically, so I'll go with that theme.
