[sblock=Andras]
You slowly move toward the sound of crunching bones and almost run into Brenn, who seems to be walking around looking for clues. He is carrying a sunrod and looking worried.

GM: Go ahead and talk to him with sblocks if you would like.

[/sblock]

[sblock=Brenn]
You move in a outward spiral pattern, searching for clues. Bones litter the ground wherever you look, but you cannot find any that looks like Andras.

Suddenly someone runs into you and you quickly turn around. It is Andras. For some reason he seems to be hobbling and has his short sword scabbard tied to his leg.

GM: Go ahead and talk to him with sblocks if you would like.

[/sblock]

[sblock=Jax]
You peer through the mist but cannot see anything, it is too thick to see more than a couple inches through the swirling vapor.
[/sblock]

[sblock= Andras/GM]
>Brenn gave a terse quick grin- for him that was he equivalent of jumping for joy. "Glad to see you're still alive," he said quietly. Even as he spoke, he put down the sunrod and started to untie the rope from his belt. "Doesn't look like you're going to be climbing well, though. Let's get this rope around you and the others can pull you up."

[sblock=Andras/Brenn]
From far above you can hear the voice of Sir ExSixTen. Though it is less loud than usual it is still audible.

"CITIZENS, IF THE HORRIBLE ACID IS DISSOLVING YOUR BONES AND YOU ARE DYING HORRIBLY, TUG ON THE ROPE SO I CAN PULL IT IN. NO NEED TO WASTE GOOD ROPE."

As the rest of the group waits for Brenn or Andras to appear out of the pit, you notice the mists start to move. It is swirling about in one area and starting to form something. Soon familiar shapes appear, but unlike their counterparts they are made up of blue shimmering ghost-like mists. They glow so brightly that they can be seen through the fog.

Sir ExSixTen! The ghostly Brenn whispers in a rasping voice. You have failed us! You have let us perish under your charge! Your constant un-perceptiveness has been our undoing. Now we lived a cursed life, forsaken to wander these lands for all eternity thanks to your foolishness! We shall drag you into the underworld to keep us company in our fate!

Dorn! the ghost of Andras says pointing. Your magical powers were our undoing! If you had the skill to disarm the runes, I would not have fell unto my death! But now I wander the world, looking for relief to my constant suffering! Soon you shall join us and live the half-life we live now!

Jax! the ghost of Brenn whispers turning to the Kobold. Your cowardliness and greed has been our death! If you had not taken this foolish quest for material gain, we would not have died! Join us in our fate, and you shall know the true meaning of want!

Quagmire! the spectral Andras whispers. Your fate was sealed once you joined our group, for we were cursed once we first entered the demi-plane! You shall not see your parents after death, but forever seek them in wandering!

Join us! both whisper advancing on the party. You all have lead us to our fate, so you shall share it with us!

GM: One thing notable about the Ravenloft campaign setting is the horror checks. The party last encountered this (in a way) in the fight against the zombie lord at the end of the last adventure (remember the horrified condition?)

Now you get to live that piece of D&D history again! ;)

The ghostly specters of your fellow comrades have striked fear into each and every one of you. Jax, Dorn, Sir ExSixTen and Quagmire must make a will check (with a bonus to the d20 roll equal to your will defense -10) DC 18.

If you fail, you are so terrified that you are forced to run in terror away from the ghosts. You also suffer a -2 to all d20 rolls until further notice.

There are only three places to run (as you have to get away from the ghosts):

1. Jump into the pit (not recommended)
2. Climb down the rope, this will require an athletics check as you will be climbing as fast as possible to escape.
3. Run further into the cavern ahead.

If you succeed you may take any actions as normal. Combat is not starting now, but you may still make attack actions/

[sblock= GM/Andras]
>With the rope at last secured to Andras, Brenn waved in the direction of the shouting warforged. "That sounds like your lift," he said, then pulled the rope twice, to signal to those above.
[/sblock]

Jax brandishes his daggers at ghost-Brenn. His feet are firmly rooted to the ground even as the rest of his tiny body is shaking.

"I've killed things deader than you, Brenn!" he shouts defiantly. "We were comrades when you were alive, but don't think I'll just roll over and die for you!"

[sblock=will save succeeds]1d20+8=19. Am I doing this right? Jax's will defense is 18, so 18-10 is a +8 bonus on the d20 roll.

Maybe I should give Jax a racial penalty to fear saves, hehehe.[/sblock]

[sblock=GM/Brenn]Andras grimaces in pain as he checks the rope. Is it from his leg or Exsixten's words? "Hah, yes, let's get back before he causes a cave-in or jumps down unto our heads." Then his expression calms and he nods to Brenn, "My thanks. I would not have wanted to try and find my own way back like this."[/sblock]

[sblock=Horror check success]1d20+(20-10)=26[/sblock]

As the apparition finishes its browbeating of Sir Exsixten, he looks in its direction.

MIST CREATURE, SIR EXSIXTEN WAS THINKING ABOUT KITTENS AND LOGICAL NAND GATES, THUS MISSING WHAT YOU WERE SAYING, REPEAT IT IN A DRAMATIC FASHION, BUT PRETEND YOU ARE SAYING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME SO IT HAS THE FULL DRAMATIC EFFECT!

As they talk to the others, he tries to get their attention.

I AM THE CHAMPION SPEAK TOO... HEY!

THE GHOST LIZARD IS NOT ONE OF YOU, ADDRESS... ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING?

His ego thus damaged, he arrives at the only reasonable course of action.

[sblock=Attack]I'm not sure how far away they are, whether they're floating or over "land" and how many actions Sir Exsixten gets, but Sir Exsixten is going to try to hit them.[/sblock]

OOC: I'm going to be away from the internets from tomorrow morning until Sunday evening. If things get moving before then whoever wants to can take over Sir Exsixten. Dekana maybe?
