The dim light of the candle seems to have no effect on the eye. It remains open and you examine things fully. As Cairn tries to pry it from the wall it doesn't budge, but it does look like the eyelid itself may produce better luck. The trap could possibly disabled through jamming or possibly removing the led completely.

OOC: Strength Check 14 Failure.

Filo examines the injuries of his comrades and treats the worst cases before resting again.

OOC: Song of Rest will grant your surges a +6 instead of a +4 with Euphie around. I believe with Euphie each Majestic Word will be a surge +8 total instead of +6. That nets a total of 2hp more than the song of rest ones each for waiting an extra 5 min (not something I allow when I DM but I am mean) Got two of 'em so who needs them?

OCC:Song of rest adds CHA to healing. This adds together with the +CHA you get from your Majestic Word. So your Majestic Word normally heals +6, +4 from Song of Rest and +2 from me for a total of +12. Nothing says that the surge you spend at the end of the Song of rest can't be from a casting of Majestic Word. ;)

Also I'll take that surge Cairn. :D
 

OOC: elecgraystone, say something IC in that regard otherwise Cairn had no idea you need it.

For short time Cairn is busy with the eye. After his attempt to pry it off the wall by hand failed he takes Ghalad Nakh and uses it as leverage.

OOC: If that fails, he tries to take the lid off the eye (preferably complete) and if that fails he destroy the lid completely.
 

Even with the leverage of the mighty weapon, Cairn fails to loosen the artifact, he instead goes after the eyelid, which seems less firmly held. Perhaps disheartened at his earlier failures, his strength seems gone from him.

Wait, wait! Elec-Squall snuffs out his light, and approaches Cairn. Let me take a look before you rip it apart! The wizard peeks around the back end of the fixture, and looks for his best options.

Can I get someone with "dexterous fingers"? smiling the whole while, Elec-Squall gently lifts the area Cairn had been ripping at, and points inside. Ok, now if our resident "treasure hunter" would pull that mechanism, and hold it in place, Elec-Squall then shifts his attention back to Cairn, Then, you pry from underneath, away from the mechanism, Elec-Squall gently sets the piece down, Then I'll sever the arcane connection, and it should just pop off the wall... should...

To spell it out OOC, thievery, strength, and arcana could all be used "at the same time" in order to take the thing apart as a team.

OOC: Yes, if he had INT above 8 I'd simply cover them, but I tried to take the lid because maybe its hidden side of the lid that makes the darkness :) Physical help or artificer might help
 

OOC: Sure, go for the combined attempt. Let's see those strength and thievery rolls. Maybe another Arcana person will even assist?
 

After administering to everyone's wounds Filo noticed Cairn and Elec fiddling with the eye.
"May I be of assistance?"
the halfling asked politely. "I am something of a dabbler in magicks."
