[sblock=ooc]I am interpreting the above thusly. . .
Elec-squal casts light on his hammer, creating bright light in a 20 ft radius. He secures his own rope and prepares to ascend. (How long is you're rope Elec=squal?
Stasi prepares a rope of 30 feet and jumps off like she's bungee jumping.
Cairn prepares his own rope and begins his descent.
Elec is about to follow slowly behind, and everyone else is waiting.
Acrobatics check for Stasi,
27 Thats a natural twenty.
Cairns Athletics is also easily enough to repel down the rope.
Assuming Squal is close behind, Athletics
21. Thats fine as well.[/sblock]
Yes Shanairra, just like when we were kids, your insight is a boon. Shall we ransom them back to their organization then? After arriving at the hole Elec-Squall hammers a piton deep into the earth, and attaches his grappling hook to it. He swings out over the chasm to test the connection, and then lets the rope fall down.
It's safe, but I think Cairn should go first, just to test the rope. Don't worry if it breaks, I've got a back up for that. the wizard winks at Cairn, and gestures open-palmed toward the hole.
"You mentioned letting them down first one by one." grumbles Cairn stoically as he lowers himself on the rope.
"I need some light."
The wizard waves his hands casually and his hammer now glows brightly like a torch.
Stasi measures off 30' of rope and ties it off securely then ties the other end tightly to her feet.
"See you all at the bottom"
Stasi swan dives off into the hole. Wind flapping in her face, she brings her body in tightly to cut down on wind resistance. Just as she's about to run out of rope, she kicks her feet out, swings slightly in the shaft, flips right side up for just a moment, smiles, and then comes resting lightly against the side of wall upside down. While it's quite dark beyond the scope of the light, she can tell the shaft keeps going.
Being of earth, Cairn liked predictability and thought before action. Air elementals were fickle and thoughtless. Thus,
"Airhead..." he mutters as he takes the rope, prepares his own 50' in case it goes deeper and climbs down.
Feeling the earth all around him Cairn slides easily down, passing the upside Stasi, with Elec-squall close behind. At 50', where Cairn's rope runs out, you can see the shaft lasts only another ten feet, and then opens up into a larger chamber. You can see ten feet into the room, but don't see the ground.
