Adventure II: Ugot City

The map...

Do the characters have any knowledge of that huge crater SE of Solt?

What's with all the "sonar blip"/"rain drop" effects all over the map. Is that important or something you were doing for some reason?

What are all the random lines (looks like you took your pen and just shook it around) all over the mountain area in the NE?

"It is interesting, Marah, but something tells me that the cult of the earthborn is broader than we think. My father referred to it when I was younger," says Hamdin. "Our family history may in fact be linked to men who brought these strange powers with them and passed them on down through the generations. We are descended from a race of people called the Ashanizi. They were a darker skinned race, I am told, and came from a land of intense heat and desperate living conditions. Strangely, I feel myself, if I may confide in you, near to exploring my own inherited possibilities.

"I may be confusing stories and names, but I recall my father talking about a strange connection to the earth that existed in our family, and not one that was totally akin to that of the druids, though their sources might eventually prove to be similar.

"All I know is that my father built many things for the mill out of stone, and ne'er did we see tool or chisel used for these purposes."

No.

The result of speed over quality. Just an after-effect of doing it too fast.

Something to investigate if you want.

What are the other three elements?

Water (Mû'ûm); Earth (Ertsetûm); and Air (Shamâ'ûm)

Marah would be interested in meeting this Zealia. However, one of her other books says it is authored by Zealia of Tsath and that is a manor surrounding Kutaaya. Strange. Actually finding Xinaián would be fascinating. I'm not sure that "Finding the Land of Psions: Xinaián" by Zealia of Tsath specifically states where it is, merely where to find it.

Tsathitu means "of Tsath," meaning she was born in Tsath. It is usually used when there is another Zealia in town. Apparently she adventured for a bit and settled in a city other than her birth city.

Me to Vince - Would the epic poem about Xinaián be a worthwhile item for you to create? If so, I would like to read it. :)

Unfortunately, I am not a poet, so I can't exactly compose an epic poem.

According to one of my father's books, Lord Mindstrike is Baron of Xilgultun. I suppose that information could be outdated, I am unsure of the age of the book.

The book is 56 years old.

I think Amelkhar sounds like a fairly interesting place. I think it would be worthwhile to study up on these barrows (and likewise all such barrows in these lands) and find out why there seems to be so much interest in them.

The manor (and village) of Shikarûm (known for its beers and barley fields) lies closest to these barrows. Locals believe Shikarûm is haunted by the ghost of a golden dragon. The ruler of Shikarûm (Akkad Ennamkhar, Soldier Bannerette of Lord Amelkhar) is an iron-handed ruler, but is concerned about the power vacuum in Amelkhar. He is providing labor for the barrow diggings as he sorts out the issues of fealty.

Known burials in these barrows include Namzarutum the High Priestess of Kabda; Queen Puzuntum Maratshullat; Akkad Epiirwer (An Ashanizi with the full title of Akkad of the Order of Achertset); Werdad Wergashir the Heretic; several suspected wizards; and two vampires (staked long ago). The long-dead psion Korthel Broose is also buried here, supposedly with his library. Ruhn, son of Akirunul, is said to have buried the legendary Key to Yoth somewhere in these barrows, but no one knows just where.

This is an intriguing bit of news. Just when Hamdin thought the land couldn't get any more interesting, up spring the tales of dead queens and more people of power. I think we should make for Amelkhar, just for curiosity's sake!

If you want to use Lord Ugot's library to research this, you can get 6 virtual ranks in Knowledge (local) and/or Knowledge (history) (or a +3 to your rolls if you already have these skills). Let me know if you research this, and, if so, what you rolled and I will put down what information you discover (if any).

Alternatively, you can make a short foray in that direction and just talk to the locals in the area - maybe even visit the spot - and make a Gather Information check (no modifier) to gain the information.

I rolled a 13 (total 19). I'll leave heading that way to the group since I'm not even going to make the next session... :.-( Which is sad indeed. :(

No INT bonus?

You learn that the incident surrounding the crater started with a strange blue-green boulder. Two children (belonging to the heretical Akirunul's cult of "escapists") were involved, but the details are vague.
