[Adventure] Into the King's Forest (Judge: THB)

Well, Susan is the moral compass of our little team,
HA! I think the "side" Unit 16 most sympathizes with at the moment is the owlbear. :) A pawn in a bigger scheme... Possibly being used as a weapon against others... Oh yeah, he's feeling some sympathy for the owlbear.[/sblock]
[sblock=r1]edit: Well, we let you post 3 times on that last page... Hope you don't mind coming along on our little adventure. :)[/sblock]

Ha! Canada's a big place... ahh...just messin' with ya[/sblock]

"Alright, glad to have another arm against the beast. I'll take you to the edge of its range, then I'll let you do what you gotta do" Luthan says, walking next to Unit 16 Susan down the well traveled road. Guards are becoming less noticable as you leave Sharn and soon traffic dies down too. After four hours of steady walking Luthan holds a hand up to stop you, he bends down and looks at a bush on the side of the road. A small white band is painted on one of the branches. He nods, snaps the branch off and gestures for you to follow him into the woods.

After another few hours of more difficult travel, the elf stops you, points to a tree, a large, broad-leafed one, with a set of scratches along its trunk. He draws you in close, "Ok, so this is the edge of its territory, it's den is probably less than an hour that way. I'll wait here, come back when you're done." he whispers pointing straight ahead.

As Luthan indicates the trail, Ryda nods and nocks an arrow. She bends down, searching the area for a decent trail through the wilderness, and sets out, motioning for the others to follow.

...walking next to Unit 16 Susan down the well traveled road...
Actually, saying Unit 16 is entirely appropriate there. I mean, technically that is the character's name; he's just picked a new name for himself. ...Ok I can see how that might be confusing... :)[/sblock]
Unit 16 readies his hammer and follows his friend, helping her as he can.

[sblock=ooc]I'm assuming we had some minor chit-chat about fighting and what our characters are good at along the way during these past few hours; basically, not more than you'd glean from looking at someone's character sheet. :)

Stealth is completely useless around Unit 16 - sorry. I'm happy to roll a nature or perception but unless otherwise noted he will just assist Ryda to give her a +2 bonus (let me know if I need to roll that, too - he's trained in both and has +7 in both).[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]The stealth check is just a habit of hers, she’s completely aware that the 3 of them will probably not be a ninja deathsquad. After about 20 minutes of walking, she’s going to let Unit 16 take the lead anyway so that he can take the charge when they finally do find it. I'm hoping we get a "your walking montage" for her to do it[/sblock]

I'll post a skill challenge tomorrow. I'll try to push the rest of the adventure a little faster as I hear rumour there may be a real adventure in the works soon.

re: Unit 16/Susan, yeah I was just playing around [/sblock]

Jarren follows close behind the other two, keeping a sharp eye out for any sign of recent Owlbear activity - or, for that matter, anything else unusual in the wood.

[sblock=OOC]Time for more wis-based skill one-upmanship! :uhoh:

Nature: 1d20+12=32
Perception: 1d20+14=25

edit: Ups, cross-posted with r1. Looks like that might be a wasted 20, ah well. :p[/sblock]

Unit 16 seems more at ease than ever before as he travels with his companions through the forest. He often stops to examine tree markings or to study small plants.
