[Adventure] Kingmaker (DM:renau1g; judge: garyh)

Mair

"We've got to map territory in almost every direction, so I don't suppose it makes to terribly much difference where we begin. But, just as a suggestion, since there is one area already mapped out not too far from our starting point, why don't we fill in the blank spaces between that area and here. Then we could work around that known area in circles of ever-increasing diameter, and soon we'd have the whole thing mapped out. Ahh, but who wants to listen to the damned Tiefling?"

"A remarkably logical and organized plan I must say. Let us get to it then."

[sblock=ooc]I was gong to warmly affirm Faustus' idea. Elurin is considering trying to make Faustus feel more valuable to the party. But no time for an IC post until the weekend or Monday[/sblock]

Ezmerelda rolled her eyes and grinned.

"It's a great plan, even if it does come with a generous helping of self-pity. Maybe we can leave that off or get it on the side next time. For now...I think we have some exploring to do."

[sblock=ooc for HoM]Your intentions are much appreciated anyway! ;) Faustus doesn't feel un-valuable to the party, or anything, however, he's just a little grumpy sometimes. A little, a little. But contrary to renau1g's comment, he's NOWHERE NEAR as grumpy as Leif is! :p[/sblock]

"I can even put in a pail for you so you can carry it home and savor it at your leisure." ;)

OOC: I'm just going to give Handof mystra until tomorrow to post IC and then we'll move onto your investigation.

Is there a standard marching order I can use so that I don't have to ask each time

OOC: Put Faustus in the Second or Third rank, please? Second, preferably, if there's room after we get all the tanks and motorized howitzers up there.

The druid straightens up, holding his staff: "Happs, I do hope things go well for you."
"Lets go, I will range up front in teh form of an animal. Let me shift into form now and make a cry so that you will know what it sounds like." The druid shifts into a local form of animal and makes a cry.
[sblock=marching order] I think that Elurin ranges in the front in animal form[/sblock]

The group departs Oleg's Trading Post with a full belly, and having met a few newcomers to the Post. Following the tiefling's wise suggestion of the southwest area that they blazed through to get to the bandit's river camp.

Elurin estimates it will take them a good two days to properly map the area at the group's speed, as you're hampered by the heavy woods of this area.

In beast form, the druid moves ahead of the group, scouting out and hoping to blend into the scenery. Around mid-morning of the second day of exploration, Elurin hears some moaning (and anyone else with a 20+ Perception) from a clearing ahead.

Moving cautiously forward, you see a large radish patch in the clearing ahead. A quartet of kobolds lie on their backs in the center of the patch, they clutch their stomachs and moan. Three overfull baskets of odd, white radishes sit near them.

These radishes are known as moon radishes, a delicacy and typically used sparingly as their are also very, very spicy, especially raw. [/sblock]
