Adventure:Land Ho! FWBTHW (DM:H.M.Gimlord,Judge:Ozymandias79)

[sblock=Jin, perception]You notice several similarities:

The torch sconces on the walls are identical to those you saw in Varquat Wayne's basement.

The bartender is quite rotund, and Varquat did mention that a fat man was in the basement just moments before you arrived at his brewery.

Unfortunately, without further investigation, you cannot tell for certain.[/sblock]

Blagarm turns back to Talon, "You say yer lookin' fahr somun? 'Ho'd tha' be? Ah'd be thinkin' Ah'd know ever' soul in Rioc Alair a'one time ahr 'nuthah."

As the bartender focuses on Talon, Jin whispers to Riardon.

"These lights are an exact match for the basement not-Wayne's," he said quietly, with a nod in the direction of a sconce. "We need to get into this basement. Perhaps we could offer our services as workers tonight...to, say, help pay off the bar tab. It could get us into the basement to retrieve barrels of beer, and it should allow us to watch the patrons both conspicuously and sober."

"Try to be unobtrusive. But we shouldn't go one by one on second thought. Or we loose someone, when he is teleported to Daunton" Riardon responds softly.

The sun has gone down outside, and presently two things of note happen. First, Jahred, the man with the mail shirt and emblazoned tunic, stands with a few others at his table and addresses the bartender from across the room, "Blagarm!" he bellows, "I'm off on my beat. Take care of your," he swings his gaze around the room, "charges. You know where to find me if you should need me." With that, he begins to walk out of the room.[sblock=Talon, Riardon, Jin]You notice that Jahred has not been drinking[/sblock]Second, as Jahred is making his way to the door, a towering dragonborn walks into the room. His proportion is ordinary, but as he moves through the room, it becomes apparent that he's nearly a head taller than all the other patrons of the inn. Blue scales sparkle in the light of the lamps and sconces with hints of iridescent purple from underneath a hauberk of tough, scorched hide. His hands bear small scars, and though hearty, he looks tired as if he's been working extremely hard. He smiles a friendly hello to Jahred, and slaps him on the back as they pass. Then, as he turns to look over the common room, his eyes shoot up in surprise. He appears to suppress a belt of jovial laughter and makes his way over to Rujah, clapping him on the shoulder, "Algbo! Vorq svabol wiapi persvek shafaer Bahamut ulph altiuiri!" He leans in closer and whispers, "Tir ti qe kiri wintektora ini nomenoi rekisixi. Astahii geou itrewic korja algbo mrith wux." Then, facing Rujah once more, he continues in a louder voice, "Sia ominak ui Ixenvalignat. Svabol ui dout? svaklar re wux de?" He smells of slag mixed with ozone, like cold, stormy weather.

[sblock=Translation (Draconic)]"Well look what flies in on Bahamut's wings!" He leans in closer and whispers, "Do not be too frightened by these creatures. They will get along well with you." Then, facing Rujah once more, he continues in a louder voice, "My name is Firebyrne. What's yours? Where are you from?"[/sblock]

H.M.Gimlord said:
"Splendi!" The barkeep walks back to a board that has large iron keys hanging on them. Each is emblazoned with a number. He pulls five keys off the board and comes back to the bar smiling, "Five rooms! Tha'll be a silvah a night fahr each o' yah, an' five coppahs a mug," He looks beyond Fenwick to Talon and Dayna, "The lion-man'll have tah pay an extrah silvah fahr th' wolf."
Talon slides the barkeep 3 silvers to pay for his room, current drink, and some food for later.
Blagarm turns back to Talon, "You say yer lookin' fahr somun? 'Ho'd tha' be? Ah'd be thinkin' Ah'd know ever' soul in Rioc Alair a'one time ahr 'nuthah."
Talon leans in close to the bartender, speaking quietly to keep the conversation more private, "A dwarf. Hankel his name." He pets Dayna's head as a nervous habit while noticing the blue dragonborn entering in this place where they thought only humans lived.

Blagarm rubs his chin, "Ah ole'Ankel, ya say. Blacksmith an'armorer. Funnih ya should mention tha'. I've not seen a blink o' 'im fahr three days nah." He rolls his eyes up in contemplation, "Nah. Make it fahr days. 'E usially 'as a drink ever' night. I's nah'like 'im tah miss a drink." He laughs and nods over toward Firebyrne, "Tha'un's 'is 'prentice blacksmith. 'e migh' know."

Jin leaned in close next to Talon. "Did he say apprentice? We should ask him a few questions."

"Hey, Rujah, stand near the door in case he..." Jin starts, interrupted by the second dragonborn entering the bar. As the man finishes speaking in draconic, Jin had a confused look on his face. While he spent his childhood working for Dragonborn, he could not speak their guttural language. He looked carefully, trying to determine if they actually knew one another, but the ronin was unsure.

Jin glanced back, keeping any eye on the apprentice, making sure he didn't slip away during the distraction.

Does the new dragonborn know Rujah from before?
[/sblock]

[sblock=Jin]It's pretty obvious that the dragonborn's surprise is not one of recognition, rather from simply seeing another dragonborn. It's evidently something that hasn't happened since his own arival (and judging by the friendly slap he have Jahred, he's been a resident of the city for quite some time). [/sblock]Blagarm sees Jin looking at the wrong man, "Nah, frien'. Tha's 'Ankel's 'prentice.". He points at the dragonborn talking to Rujah.
