Riardon

"I meant runes, similar to the once on your dagger. We found some instructions, and maybe your dagger could be the key. Trust us, we are no simple hired knifes. And while I would hunt for treasure, I seek only information from you and your employer."Riardon continues his explaination.

Firebyrne continues without waiting for a response, "If you're thieves, you're stupid ones walking around with those things when it's no secret that both they and I share identification with Hankel's forge, so I can only assume that Hankel's gotten himself into some kind of trouble, and you've come as either hired knives or treasure hunters seeking him out." He takes a breath in an inquisitive pause, "or...?"
Talon puts up one hand in a defensive gesture while holding his spear with the other before speaking, "Wait. We not cause of any trouble and we can explain weapons." the shifter says to Firebyrne. "We just get here from long sea voyage from place called Daunton, far away. We had strange adventure there in a merchants cellar that wasn't his cellar somehow. We killed many bad guys that nearly killed us and recovered these weapons and some notes talking about Hankel. We got out of cellar and it went back to normal."

The shifter continues, "Later, we talk about it among ourselves in bar and dwarf overhear us and recognize stuff in notes we talking about. He question us about details of basement we were in and says the lights sounded like things here at Crystal Mug in Rioc Alair. So if bad guys we killed were hiding in basement here, maybe we could find Hankel and give him back some of his stuff we find. If this is same place, then basement will have big casks, one with secret door in it leading to other rooms and a river or sewer underground. Maybe barkeep knows something about people that were in basement? Could we call him in here to talk privately?"

"Hmmm, runes on your dagger are different than the runes on ours..."

Firebyrne looks at the markings on his dagger quizzically
...We killed many bad guys that nearly killed us and recovered these weapons and some notes talking about Hankel..."
Firebyrne's hairless eyebrows shoot up, though not enough to divert his attention from his knife.
The shifter continues, "Later, we talk about it among ourselves in bar and dwarf overhear us and recognize stuff in notes we talking about. He question us about details of basement we were in and says the lights sounded like things here at Crystal Mug in Rioc Alair. Maybe barkeep knows something about people that were in basement? Could we call him in here to talk privately?"

"Hmmm, runes on your dagger are different than the runes on ours..."
Sparks crackle from Firebyrne's teeth as he chuckles, "You'll have to pardon me for laughing, but you don't know what you're saying," Firebyrne shakes his head and gestures toward the door, "Old Blagarm? Hiding thugs in his cellar?" He shakes his head again, "That old man can't even hide his bellybutton under his tunic. How could he pull something like that off?" Firebyrne crosses his talons in front of his chest in a gesture similar to an umpire calling a runner safe at first, "There is no way."

After he regains his composure, he makes a beckoning gesture, "Let me see the markings on your weapons." He pulls his dagger out once more, "I'm fairly certain the markings on this one hold no secrets." He pushes the blade across the table toward Talon, "I want it back though." He smiles.

If you want to recruit someone more, because we lost Theroc, then we could someone teleported into the cellar. Just suggesting, because we really lack in AoE without Rujah.

" If you have pull with the barkeep, perhaps we could take a look together. This could yet be the wrong bar; or this could be the key to finding your m... employer."
Firebyrne chuckles the way a father does when his child asks him if the moon really is made of green cheese, "You're talking like Blagarm is some kind of politician that needs to be parleyed with. He's got no more wit than a cart ox. You have three options when talking to Blagarm: Bully him, bribe him, or let him be, but if he really is hiding something down there, old Jahred's going to have a field day with him." Firebyrne's laugh turns from pedagogical to nervous before it dies out into a look that seems to say, 'Oh. So you're not kidding!?' "Well. If you want to see Blagarm's basement, you'd best ask him yourself. I'm not sure which would entertain me more: seeing Blagarm squirm nervously or watching five strangers try to talk their way into the private house of a businessman. In any case, mind if I have a look at that spear?"

"Go ahead..." Talon says to Firebyrne as he holds out Stormshard so that the dragonborn can inspect its runes. He doesn't hand the spear over mind you, he just holds it out to assist in the reading of the runes. "I can tell you what they say... Dwarf captain translated for me: 'When it is my turn, I will show you my power'. You know meaning behind this?" the shifter asks Firebyrne, waiting to see if the dragonborn knows about the magic stone inside like Captain Fargo.

"It means that I'm afraid my knife will be no good to you." Firebyrne appears frustrated, "It says, 'Firebyrne: A gift for one year. A gift for many more' See for yourself. I don't think it will explain the writing on your wapons." Again, he pushes the dagger a little further along the table toward Talon, "Maybe Hankel designed them for sparring or demonstrative competitions. Anyway, if he did, he never mentioned the commission to me." His head jerks in remembrance, "You said you found documents with Hankel's name on them. Would I be able to see these?"

Talon looks at the dagger Firebyrne pushes forward, but doesn't touch it. After the dragonborn is finished looking at his spear, Talon tilts it back away from him.

Firebyrne's head jerks in remembrance, "You said you found documents with Hankel's name on them. Would I be able to see these?"

"Fenwick see no reason why not. Who now in possession of letters?"

"I have box." Talon says, pulling it out. He shows Firebyrne the box with the runes for 'Hankel' and pulls out the untranslated sheets. "We find box, spear, and other dagger in strange basement where enemies had them stored. These papers were in box. They are for Hankel, from his father. It say not to let fall in wrong hands. I translate all these and read, so I know this. But it is private and important for Hankel." the shifter says, putting the pages back in the box and closing the lid. "Dwarf Captain heard some and recognized enough to bring us here to find Hankel. But he leave town a few days ago you say? To where? He tell you he was going, or he just disappear?" Talon questions Firebyrne.
