"I saw that tree move... it was too deliberate to be the wind." Juliana steps forward, and pokes the tree branch with her sword cautiously.

Razh doesn't see the tree move himself, but when Juliana makes her comment, he forgets his hunger rather quickly. He drops his meaty hands to his hip sheath and draws his dwarven waraxe. "Ah don' like trees tha' move. Wan' meh t'chop 'er dahn?" He looks cautiously at the tree

"No, it was definately the tree, it tensed up and pulled back." Juliana says, waiting to see if poking the branch has any effect.

OOC: Ah, the classic "poke it with a stick", maneuver :-)

"Trees that move? I knew I should've stayed in the city..." Ogrin backs away a few feet and arms himself with his sling

OOC: If I can, I ready an attack against anything that moves in the tree.

When poked, the tree suddenly springs into action. Fortunately, its action seems to be retreat. By some combination of swinging and slithering, it bolts away from the party, into the other trees. Ogrin slings a stone after it, which hits, but has no apparent effect. The tree is soon lost in the woods.

"See? I told you it moved!" Juliana says, cursing she didn't get a chance to try to grapple it. "Does anyone think they can track it?"

Instead of voicing his immediate thoughts (Yah, let's go chasing trees in the forest. What a splendid idea!) Ogrin suggests "Let's focus on the matter at hand and find that Alchemist. We could take a look at what befell our furry friend here and see if its death gives us a clue on how to avoid that tree-monster again."

OOC: i.e. was it pierced, strangled, crushed, chased to death by scantily clad amazons etc...

"Hmm...why would a tree run away? Most large nigh-mindless creatures tend not to flee when poked...It could have been something more in disguise or transformed."
