"Tell you what. Perhaps you'd be so kind as to accompany me back to my warehouse. The day is almost over, & I could give you lodging for the night. I might have a little work for you. You'd accept supper at my expense if nothing else, yes? My name is Kim Tensil. Grod here," he gestures at the ogre," can take the captives to the proper authorities. I'll make sure you're compensated for your trophies. What are your names?"
Charlarn bows deeply and says, "Well met, Mr. Tensil, Mr. Grod. I would be delighted to listen to your offer." Winking at Nurlan, he adds, "I can play for my supper as well."

"Thank you Nurlan, indeed I am Tenebrynn nice to met the two of you. We would be very gracious for your hospitality." Tenebrynn says, first thanking Nurlan then addressing the two new people.

Kim Tensil

"Hobbies taken alive are always interrogated. If they know anything useful, it will be found out. You can check in with the militia tomorrow to see if they have any advice for you on more hunting. Here, "he says, taking 10 platnum pieces and 5 gold pieces out of his pouch, "this is what they'd offer for your captives. Don't think they'd pay you any more for living ones than dead ones. We've captured them before. Come, let's head for the warehouse."

Grod takes the captives and sets off. Kim walks with you through the bustling town to his warehouse. The path takes you up a long winding road that winds up the great boulder upon which sits the city. A beautiful harbor sits on the ocean side, and a wall winds around the entire sea edge. It seems to be a well-defended city.

Kim asks each of you about your past, and tells a little about his. He says he is a succesfull merchant. The past regime had a very business friendly attitude, and making money was easy. It's gotten more difficult recently. Even King Crassus himself has suffered, as a major silver shipment from his family mine was recently lost to bandits. The local theives guild is managable, but Kim worries it will become more avaricious and violent.

At his warehouse, you are escorted to ta dining area, where you are served a fine meal of sea bass, roasted vegitables, fresh bread, and berries in cream for dessert.

"So, none of you have been to Monemvassia before. Do you have any questions about the area?"

Also please post a short answer to his question: "So what brings you here, and what can you do?"

If nobody else reaches to take the coins first, Nurlan will pass them around, giving 2-3 platinum pieces to each companion, not paying much attention to who gets the extra coins.

Nurlan takes the question as an opportunity to sing his self-introductory song, the same one he had used to announce himself at the Red Dragon Inn (although only Irene among the present company has heard it). Then he elaborates, "I used to travel and perform with the great musician Shkarna. A wonderful soul, he taught me just about everything I know."

"We all met in Orussus, where we heard about the bounty being offered on goblin ears. We hitched a ride here with a merchant caravan to see what we could do. As for what I can do... well, mostly I sing. My martial experiences are limited, mainly just self-defence while travelling, although I did manage to kill one hobgoblin earlier today. Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration. I held my spear out, and he obligingly impaled himself on it. I originally got this spear to use as a prop in performances -- I don't act, but sometimes when I perform a song about a warrior I do pull out some equipment. The longspear is a great weapon for the stage, since its size is so impressive. Anyway, maybe I ought to try to use it a little more for its intended purpose. I had never imagined it was so easy to get a hobgoblin to walk into it. Still, while I am prepared to do a little more fighting, what I do best is entertain."

Charlarn replies, "Is there a temple of the Searcher in the city? I am a cleric of Phyrah and would like to trade stories with my brethren."

"I came in response to the plea for help posted in the Red Dragon Inn. My companions and I were travelling with one of the caravans to here, when we came across your wagon. We tried to help, but were too late for your people. Which brings us to now. I have some small skill with the panpipes."

"Certainly, I was wondering if there were someone around to ask about the current problems with the goblinoids. Starting I guess with why the current situation appears to be a little out of hand." Given half the chance Tenebrynn will have a mountain of questions mostly dealing with the history of the realm and the current political situation.

"Ah a good question, or two as it were. I guess it began yesterday when I decided to leave the library for a drink. Ended up getting talked into or possibly even talking myself into heading out in search of adventure, for the stories and all. Still, I am really interested in expanding the library in Orussus and thus travel seemed like a good idea. I am a librarian and diviner by trade, kinda handy with this stick I guess." He says, having talked himself into a storm with the barage of questions.

"Ah, yes. There is a small chapel of Phyrah not far from here. Or it was last time I was over that way. It's near the palace on the very top of the mountain."

Kim listens politely to the song, although he doesn't appear very musically inclined.

On her turn, Jezibel says, "I'm Jezibel. I live 'round 'ere. I saw the gobbers attack yer wagin. I tried to help out in any way I could." she shrugs and smiles sweetly.

"OK" says Kim as dessert plates are cleared by a young servant boy. "To business. Listen. It isn't every day I run into a group of honest adventurers like yourselves. As you know, the regime in this city changed recently. Not for the worse - I'm not saying that. But with any change, there is a certain amount of change and chaos. I pay my dues to the Monemvasia Theives Guild. Most everyone does, and the town is better off with them than without them. But lately, I'm worried that this is no longer enough. There are new players in town, I fear. & I don't necessarily trust the MTG, nor my own guards. My proposition to you is this. I would like you to stay at my warehouse the next few nights. I'll pay you, say, one gold piece each per night. If there's no trouble, you've just got a great deal on room and board. If there is trouble, I'll pay you for any fixing you do. Say 25 gps for any thief caught or useful information gathered. That's as good as you'd do hunting gobbers, I reckon. And in the day you can scout around and figure out how to hunt them better. What do you say?"

Charlarn replies, "Do you have any idea who these 'new players' might be? Could they be behind the goblin attacks? As far as your offer, could you increase you increase it to perhaps 30 gp per thief? Afterall, running afoul of the guild sounds dangerous."
He turns to the others, "Does this sound good?"

Steve Jung (Charlarn) said:

Nurlan nods. "Sounds like a good rate." He had never expected to be working as a security guard, but it seemed like a fair enough job, and it would be good to have a steady income if they were going to stay a while and hunt goblins. Never knew when a bounty would come along; the daily wage here would be a sure thing. Besides, he could probably supplement it with a little singing.
