[Adventure] Marna is Missing (DM: pacdidj, Judge: renau1g)

The flames in the mangroves continue to spread. As Ferris attempts to move away from the mangrove bushes that are burning his backside, the little ankle biter and the big bull croc both have a go at him. Ferris manages to easily deflect the baby, but just barely escapes the big croc through what could only be called divine intervention (Cyr's AC buff). Jezebel's Oni patrons look angrily upon the big croc's cowardly attack, searing its mind with their burning wrath, and taking advantage of the big croc's distraction Ferris manages to escape the heat of the flames.

Alnar begins to form an acid orb to smite the crocs, but for some reason his concentration is off, and just as he is about to launch it, the orb blows a leak splashing a little bit in his eyes. The orb veers far off its mark, and ends up splashing a bit of acid into Jezebel's right gauntlet. The tiefling's defenses are momentarily weakened, as she is forced to remove the gauntlet and rinse it out.

Cyr smiles sardonically as the lightning bolt he had intended to hit just the large crocodiles also causes a parbroiled baby to float to the surface.

The female croc emits an enraged roar at her inability to hit Jezebel and the death of her young. Changing tactics, she bursts to the surface next to Alnar, and seizes the sorcerer's leg in her powerful jaws. While the pain Alnar feels is intense, looking into the reptilian beast's angry eyes, he can tell that he has not yet felt the full force of the damage her jaws are capable of inflicting. He must escape, and quickly!

Meanwhile two baby crcs, one that was recently hounding Ferris and another that has just surfaced, begin pestering Jezebel. Their combined efforts, along with Jezebel's gauntlet changing maneuver, leave an opening that the bull croc is quick to sieze upon. He lunges in and clamps his jaws around the tiefling's midsection, his teeth digging their way into the gaps in her plate armor.

The other two young crocodiles, intimidated by the booming hunk of metal (Sir Exsixten) set their sights on Cyr. Rushing towards the deva, one of them gives him a nasty nip.

Ferris thanks Dayna for the missed opportunities of the crocodiles and proceeds to flail away with his axe upon the crocodile masticating Alnar... "Hold on Alnar, we're trying!"

Calling upon Dayna's wrath, Ferris invokes a glowing symbol above the crocodile, giving Jezebel a focus upon which to vent her disdain.

Although Ferris's blessing of fortitude cushions the impact of the crocodile's bite, its fangs still tear painfully into Jezebel. She instinctively summons that pain into a ball of anger that takes physical form and sears the croc's maw.

Jezebel tries to force away from the crocodile, but its grip is much too strong. Attacking the big reptile with her whip - at point blank range, no less - is similarly futile.

The flames in the mangrove trees continue to flare up, creating huge plumes of smoke that rise from the small clearing.

Missing the crocodile wildly with a crack of her whip, Jezebel realizes too late that she has inadvertently entangled one of her own legs. She falls prone, below the surface of the water. The croc, however retains its grip on the submerged tiefling's midsection.

Cyr levels his staff intending to incinerate several of the baby crocs while simultaneously stepping to the side. Unfortunately the mud below the surface of the water here effectively negates his movement, and the ankle biters take the opportunity to leap up and snap at his arm. They do manage to draw blood, but the radiant bolts coursing through Cyr's arm instantly repulse the little lizards and burn them to a crisp, flinging their charred husks harmlessly into the lake water.

The bull croc releases a huge stream of bubbles, making the surface of the water boil with its rage at the death of its mate. As one of its young harries her whip hand, leaving Jezebel totally defenseless, the bull bites down with the full crushing force of its jaws, making the water run red with the tiefling's blood. Jezebel fights the pain with every fiber of her being though, and somehow manages to hold her breath and resist the temptation to gasp in a lungful of water. Seeing its father stake a claim to the tiefling the young one darts away to harry Alnar instead.

The only other remaining baby takes a perfunctory and useless snap at Sir Exsixten, before fleeing in terror. It then dives below the surface and is gone.

Jezebel squirms beneath the crocodile as she struggles not to gasp in a lungful of water. The situation is wholely revolting to her; the crocodile is pinning the tiefling down, trying to show off its lethality - trying to kill her! Monster! Abomination! Jezebel opens her eyes beneath the waves, despite the sting of the pondwater, and glares at the lizard's underside. She lets her whip fall limply to the sand floor.

It won't end like this. Not again!

Her free hand wanders to her waist, grasping desperately for the one thing that can save her. Once she has found it and pulled it free, she summons forth a final burst of strength and rises to her feet!

The tip of a bloodied longsword bursts from the top of the crocodile's maw as Jezebel stands up, driving the blade into its head as she goes. She triumphantly lifts the croc' over its end and flips it dead into the water.

"Get OFF ME!"
