[Adventure] Murder Most Foul! (Judge: EvolutionKB)

As the group takes a well deserved moment of rest, Knoepf notices a rusty shut metal door at the end of the cave mouth.

Looking down at themselves, the group notices some things. First, everyone's food is drenched with the sewer water. Although it might be safe to eat, it also might not be. It will definitely not taste good. Knoepf is instantly glad that he ate at Ladoran's table after all.

Plus, Knoepf and Boruuk's waterskins are popped open and empty. It must have happened during the fall. It seems like the group is short on water as well.

Everyone is soaked and it is cold here. With the end of activity, a few people are starting to shiver. Nobody notices any ill effects yet from their adventure, but that doesn't mean that the situation won't change.

A most unusual set of events. Several questions come to mind: Why the elaborate deception with Merrick's men? And if Ladoran had his own well that leads to the sewers, why did he not dump the bodies in the sewer? And what is so special about Sar that Ladoran needs to kill then?

In any case, it is sometime Zor afternoon. The group only has until Sar evening to stop Ladoran.

[sblock=Knoepf]
Yes, Knoepf can use his final encounter power to heal Tirial.

And the group can take a short rest.

Note: Healing Words are allowed during a short rest.[/sblock]

Knoepf, like he did many times before in the Last War, works to heal his walking wounded comrades. When he finishes his work, he then mentions the door that he had spotted.

[sblock=ooc]
healer's mercy: Tirial receives 1d6+11 for 15 giving her 31 hp

He then uses two healing words: one for Tirial and one for artemus for 18 and 15 respectively: roll lookup. They can also use a healing surge if they need more healing.

Knoepf uses one of his healing surges bringing down to 4

Short rest replenishes encounter powers, not dailies. What about second wind or AP? I know I could just look in the book but I'm too tired.

Artemus clean his dagger. "Well, thanks Hasifar to have come to teh front. Those bastard could have tried to get you into the water. But with strategy, we can get our enemy down quickly. And good job Boruuk to have occupied the others."

Artemus sheets his dagger. "Now, we need a strategy. Ladoran told he would kill again on Saturday, and that was his last victim. He sounds like he was on the way to make some ritual or something like that. We need to find it back before that time."

The eladrin aims at the enemies, ready to fire, but they wisely retreat and she didn't want to needlessly waste any more arrows.

"Phew, thanks Knoepf. I don't think I'll be able to wash the stink off me for a week" Tirial grumbles, wringing out her skirt. "So we have about two days to find our way out of here and stop that madman. There isn't much we can do here, unless anyone can fly. Should we try this tunnel? Maybe we can find a passage leading up? I know a bit about the underground world and can lead the way." the eladrin offers

The metal door looks like it might have been easy to open at one time, but the latch mechanism seems totally rusted solid on the inside. The latch will not budge. This might have been an access door to this sewer pond for workers long ago.

"Thanks Knoepf, you did good. I could use a drink after such a tough fight" Boruuk comments as he looks at the waterskin and dumps out the few drips left in the skin onto the ground. "Oh, just great, we get dropped in the water, fight some monster things, and now I have no water? the goliath compains as he throws the waterskin back into his pack.

Seeing the door with the rusted locking mechanism, Boruuk looks at the others "So, what do you think I try my key?" as he hefts his axe and lines it up with the lock.

[sblock=OOC]
Boruuk would have let the monsters go, his OA's would've stopped them from moving, but the warrior was able to hold his cool this time.

Not sure if the axe has a chance against the door, I'm not familiar with 4e's rules on objects.

Swing away. Just roll to hit and damage 4 times.

Knoepf nods to the ranger and goliath. "No problem friends. We all have our roles to play." With that he smiles and then retrieves his lantern, bringing it closer to the party, giving everyone a good view of the door before Boruuk unleashes havoc on it.

Swing away. Just roll to hit and damage 4 times.

The goliath swings his axe in successive although his recklessless is obvious and Boruuk's attacks are wild as the loud sound of his weapon striking the door echo through the area.

[sblock=DM]
I accidentally rolled wrong on IC. I'll take the first four rolls to hit so 15,24,18,18 (wow...can't hit the broad side of the barn) using Brash Strike so the door has CA against him. First is for 13 dmg, second for 19, third for 21, fourth for 16.

Brash Strike (to hit;dmg) (1d20+12=15, 1d20+11=24, 1d20+12=18, 1d20+11=18, 1d20+12=31, 1d20+11=29, 1d20+12=25, 1d20+11=26) dmg (1d12+11=13, 1d12+11=19, 1d12+11=21, 1d12+11=16) [/sblock]
