[Adventure] Murder Most Foul! Part 2 (Judge: EvolutionKB)

"Let me try." says Malehan. He play a moment with the lock using an improvised lockpicking tool, but it doesn't seems to work. "Let not waste any more time, someone want to bash it down?"

Agreed...Vex, bash it down. The cleric gives her a wink and then steps away from the door.

"That is easy for you to say," Vex said as she looked over the door again. "So, nobody brought a bow, and nobody brought lockpicks, and nobody brought an ax... What a pathetic excuse for an adventuring company we are. Well maybe if I bash my head against this Khyber-cursed door we'll be able to distract this Ladoran from his ritual..."

And with that, she stepped back a bit, lowered her shoulder, and slammed into the door, bouncing off the oaken panel with little effect other than a rattle of steel on wood.

Vex...It was a valiant effort. Maybe the spell caster back there had a key. I'll run back and check. After a moment the dwarf rummages through the dead one's clothing.
 

Vex hears a distinctive crack when she hits the door, not just the door itself, but the resounding of her armor smashing against it. The wood around the lock splinters and she is standing there with one door open and the other still closed.

"I have a bow, but I favor my sword. I have no other weapon, too heavy and I prefer to not be exhausted after moving 50 feet. And I am no thief, even if I have some innate talent for such things." reply Malehan. "I might try to find someone to train me once we are out of here."

OOC: The door at G21 is open (shown closed on the map). The PCs are on the other side of that door (G22, etc.) at the moment. On the left hand side of the map, there is a wall directly behind the man (at G1) standing there (hard to see).


The right hand side door (at G21) smashes open. The team sees a large room, lit by everburning torches hanging five feet below the ceiling on chains. The room is about 25 feet high. At the far end of the room is a man. He is bending over a screaming naked woman who is attached to some type of altar. In the middle of the room is a large statue of what appears to be four large skeletal ogres. It blocks most of the view of the man and the woman.


"Help! Help! Somebody save me!" the woman screams at the top of her lungs.

The man notices the crashing door open, glances in your direction, and then goes back to what he was doing.

What is everyone doing? We are not in inits quite yet.

The man and woman have superior cover from the PCs at the moment due to the massively large statue.

The six black objects are pillars that are holding up the ceiling.

"I would guess that is your friend Ladoran, hard at work on his ritual," Vex quipped casually to Knoepf (since he was the only one who would actually recognize their target). "And I would be ready for the statue to start moving any time now..." Without waiting for a reply, she strode forward into the room, her greatsword ready in her hands.

OOC: If you are going to move somewhere on the map, please let me know exactly which square you are moving to. If you are prevented from doing so, I will let you know. Thanks.

On second thought, this will work better as a surprise round. Each PC can do a single Standard Action before we roll initiatives.
