(Adventure) Pest removal at unusual height and depth

OOC: Do we know what direction the entrance tunnel went in? I don't think it was ever stated.
East should be it.
Silent chittering of rats travels through the tunnel as you move through southwards, and after a short while, you see the forking out again. While it continues southwards, it also branches towards the east, and slightly towards the north.
Jack:
Among the chittering of the rats, you can make out some other sounds. There seems to be slurping in the distance, as well as some clacking, as if by bones.
Shadowlyn:
Among the chittering of the rats, you can make out some other sounds. There seems to be slurping in the distance, as well as some clacking, as if by bones. You notice a few flecks of mold here and there, rarely in the same color.

Spying the mold and the sounds ahead, Shadowlyn halts, and speaks quietly for the others to hear, "There is something ahead, in the darkness. The different colored mold around this area looks as if it has been here a while, but with so much and differently colored, I do not know what it means. I also hear a slurping noise, and something like bones clacking. Be ready for anything!"Ready action to let loose her bullet at anything that shows up in the tunnels that is threatening or moving.

Jack continues ahead cautiously, keeping an eye out for the fungus that Shadowlyn spotted. "Sounds like someone's havin' a picnic," he mutters.

Loskrad takes Shadowlyn's advice and readies himself for whatever may be ahead.

(OOC)
I'll be gone for about a week as I move. It shouldn't be so bad this time, and it should be the last time for a while that I'm away, ^_^. Feel free to NPC Loskrad in that time if needed.

As Jack cautiously spies around the corner, he can make out the source of the strange sounds in the shadows. One appears to be a halfling-sized and somewhat humanoid lump. Another could be one of the big rats that attacked you at the entrance, but extremely thin, and he thinks he sees a yellow glow in the eyes.

The absence of light makes it virtually impossible to discern any other detail. The creatures seem oblivious to their surroundings, and seem to be occupied. The movements might indicate that the creatures eat something...

Mintrik doesn't see how he can contribute in a situation like this, and doesn't want to make any noises or motions to alert whatever it is up ahead, so he remains ready with his crossbow.

OOC: I'll be travelling starting next week until the middle of September with little if any internet access. Please NPC Mintrik for me! For the most part he'll shoot his crossbow, unless he finds an opportunity to Ray of Frost or Color Spray. He probably won't be able to use Charm Person in the sewers, but he didn't have an opportunity to change spells before he got here...

With a qiuet movement, Shadowlyn moves to see the creatures ahead. If they turn to face her, and notice her, she will let her bullet fly at them, and command her dog to attack.

(Bad Listen rolls for the two creatures...)

Shadowlyn finds the two creatures a Jack described them. They still don't seem to have noticed the presence of the adventurers. However, now they appear to have stopped... eating, if that was what they have done previously. Shadowlyn gets the impression that they want to move away, and further up the tunnel towards the east.
