(Adventure) Rivenblight's Castaway [Creamsteak judging]

Despite Garret and Jaan's early success, they loose the trail about an hour into the day, only to find it again two hours later. The rest of the day goes smoothly, even as the trackers begn to tire, but by the tenth hour it is, perhaps, time for a rest. It is intersting to note that, about midway through the day, the path (which thus far has zig-zagged slowly in the direction of the inn and stayed on the eastern side of the road) turns suddenly seaward, crossing the roadway (a tracking challenge but one that Garret and Jaan overcome) and begins heading straight back south in the direction of Orussus, forgoing the usual backtracking (although pains are still taken to cover up the trail). The group comes to rest perhaps six miles north and half a mile south of Troi's departure from the trail.

The second and third tracking checks failed, followed by a string of successes. At this point Garret has taken 5 points of nonlethal damage (failed the second con check) and Jaan has taken 9 (failed both con checks). You can press on for another hour but risk passing out.

Gnomeworks, what's your e-mail again?

Troi:

It hurts. It hurts an awful lot.

Awareness returns to Troi and with it, pain. Even before he sees anything but blackness, the pain in his side stabs at him. He hears a groan- it might be him. His eyes open, and his vision begins to clear, although it is still very dim. Or maybe it's night. Yes, that's it- there's a small fire in front of him, and the blurry outline of a man sitting next to it. His vision clears further. The man is looking at him. Curious, perhaps?

Jaan Saaresar, Human male Paladin.

I will not hold us back. We can'T go on like this forever. We have to make up time.. Jaan realises that if they came across the bandits now, he would be of little use. We have to close the gap. And there is little likely hood of catching them tonight. But we can close the gap a little.

Jaan looks to Garret.

"We are still some way behind aren't we. If there is enough light then we should push on if you are up to it."

ooc: we have to find Troi so I can find out what his backstory is.

Troi groans. He has felt his way before...

Zidaniel...?

The dream then leaves him, leaving only the pain of the moment in its place - but also some clarity of mind. He regards the man near the fire, trying to clear his thoughts.

"Who... are you?" He asks the first question that comes to mind, pausing briefly to let the pain from sudden speech subside.

Troi:

"Hey, you're awake. What, don't remember me?" says the man with little humor. "Paybacks a b-tch, it seems, even if it weren't me doin' it. What goes around comes around, huh?" Troi's vision begins to focus, but he still can't make out the man's face, backlit as he is by the fire. He's wearing the garb of the bandits.

Garett just nods and keeps on tracking.

"Its okay. Left push a litle further so that we can gain shorter our distance to who we are follwoing". Garret tried to hide his exhaustion, but he knew that he wouldn't be able to go on for much more. His legs felt on fire, just as if some acid had dropped on them, his head hurted and his vision was blurry, yet the ranger pushed on with estoic determination, there was no way he was going to fail on his work as a tracker, even if he had to work until exhaustion.

Ioleta peers between Jaan and Garret. "Are you sure. I know we need to find out what's become of Troi, but these bandits are dangerous." She rubs her head, wincing, "And sneaky."

OOC: Nice stuff, GW. Thanks for being patient.

Thanks, Sparky. :) And I don't mind the wait.

Troi thinks for a minute - not an easy process, as his mind is still thick with the haze from his recent awakening.

Paybacks... the first bandit, maybe? The one I shot down?... I bound his wounds. That's probably why I'm not dead. Assuming he's the one I think he is.

"I'm afraid I don't." He says softly. His voice is devoid of accent, instead each word pronounced clearly, though effortlessly. "Perhaps you'd care to enlighten me?"

Over the next hour, the phrase "verge of collpase" springs readily to mind as Garret and Jaan drag themselves onwards. Neither of them passes out, but Garret can clearly go no farther.

Yes tracking check, no both Con checks. Garret took another 5 points nonlethal, for a total of 10, and is now staggered (partial actions only). Jaan lucked out and only took 1 more, also totalling 10.
