[SBLOCK=OOC]I need Impact and Tinwe to know if they want to level there characters. If I have no news today, I'll try to post this week-end the next encounter... anyway, with battlemat down at the moment (annoying), that make me a bit more work to do.[/SBLOCK]

Gruff will level up, gaining 6 hp and Swordmage Shielding Fire for his daily

Sorry I've been scarce- it's exams at school and holidays at work, so life is pretty busy right now.[/sblock]

[SBLOCK=OOC]I'll say that Radtash stay level 4 for now, but I'll allow him to spend his RP after this encounter if he want. I know many people might be in an exam rush, so I'll keep the slow pace for the moment.[/SBLOCK]

Narvala and Gogmorthak are both on the last shift. The night have been quiet and without any incidents. The air is fresh and the ground start to be wet because of the morning dew. The sun appears over the trees. Gog is looking at beautiful sky, but something is hitching him.

The impression confirm him when he saw a javelin coming out of the trees. The javelin is pretty of target and quickly scan the bush, staying with some cover. Narvala go to another hole in the tower to see if some kenkus wouldn't be attacking by another side. All is quiet. Gog see a bloody death bird attach to the javelin. Before he could see what was the meaning of that, he hears a piercing screech. Gogmothak spots an owlbear, who seems to have been attracted by the smell of blood.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Initiative: Init: Owlbear, Sweet, Gog, Narvala, Radtash, Arkavas, Gruff (1d20+6=11, 1d20+7=26, 1d20+3=14, 1d20+2=19, 1d20+2=13, 1d20+2=6, 1d20+2=22)

Arkavas, Radtash, Sweetness and Gruff sleep and all starts prone.

The scream of the owlbear might have awaken the sleepers. They must roll a Perception roll, DC: 15. If they fail that roll, a warning of there comrade will wake them during the first round, preventing to act but waking them.

Everyone act (if they are awake) in the first round before the owlbear, except Arkavas.

Also, all red squares are difficult movement.[/SBLOCK]

"I think there are more in the forest, though I don't know what they are." he whispers to Narvala "We should stay in the cover and let them come to us, but we'll need the others awake."

Then at the top of his lungs the powerful orc lets out a bloodcurdling scream before tossing his javelin at the owlbear.

Arkavas hears the screech, but is too bewildered to act, having dreamed last night that he was back at the university taking exams (an even scarier nightmare than the reality that transpired the night before). "What the bloody 'ell was that!? ...wait, wait, let me get my robe on! Class doesn't start 'til nine-bells, what's 'e doing calling this bloody early!? ...huh!?"

[SBLOCK=OOC]To make things clear... Arkavas, Radtash, Sweetness and Gruff can make an active Perception roll DC:15 as the owlbear scream. If you are successful, you can do a normal turn during your first round. If you fail, you spend your turn awakening by the sound of combat.

In the case of Arkavas... well, it is after the monsters turn.[/SBLOCK]

Whether it was the owlbear's screech or some inborn survival instinct, Sweetness seemed to snort and snuffle at the first hint of trouble. Within moments the gnoll was fully awake, reaching for her weaponry. "Sweetness likes it when breakfast delivers itself, yep yep yep," she growled huskily, even as she moved to the edge of the tower... (Such comment might easily have been taken for a joke, if there wasn't a half-eaten kenku corpse just outside the tower left over from dinner)

OOC: Perception 1d20+9= 18; roll Roll Lookup ; first round actions- stand up from prone, draw dagger and everburning torch, if any action remains, move to one of the tower opening to look out.

[SBLOCK=OOC]The sun is up, so the torch make no change. But the light had given some cover to the javelin thrower as the sun was blinding Gog. But for the combat, there will be no other advantage from the sun for sake of simplicity.[/SBLOCK]

Narvala's update has been submitted to the judges.
LEB:PC:Narvala ir'Sarhain (drothgery) - ENWiki

In addition to normal leveling up, I swapped her level 1 encounter power to one from Divine Power, which wasn't approved when she was originally submitted.
[/sblock]

"Wake up everybody. There's trouble!" Narvala says with more force in her voice than many of you would have thought, until you remembered that she spent close to a decade as an officer in Thrane's armies.

But she can't see a way to get a clear line of to the creature without leaving the tower, and she's not about to do that without some melee types in front of her.
