So at this rare of an update about once a week we should have this wrapped up by, say, 2010?

well, one might suggest DOING SOMETHING... :p :p :p

Rainca has said that another specific character should consider speaking to the prisoners. Since that character isn't feeling talkative, berhaps you (or someone) could volunteer to do it yourself, or suggest another course of action. But this is a Player-Proactive game I'm trying to run here, and I've been trying to avoid either having npc's say "ok, get moving towards the northwest" or telling you all "You talk a while, flip a coin and decide to investigate the closed mines to the southwest first."

If people would perfer one of those options, I'll start herding a little more, but all you have to do to move the story is, well, move the story. In a group this big I'll carry along the quiet ones with majority voice, but my dm style requires a chance to gather info first, or charge out as the players decide...

OOC: Can do.

Rainca's cocks her head at Joseph Dar'maryon as his silence stretches out. Taken with dark thoughts, that one. She turns to the others, ends of the armband fluttering across her chest, "Rainca thinks the captured bandits have much to tell us. Let us speak with them now that they have rested."

Eyes gleaming she nods at Gath as they file out to speak with the captives. "Warrior Gath Stonefist must tell Council Man Therick that he does not wish to punish the bandits further."

**************

In the jail:
Rainca enters, squinting as her eyes adjust to the light inside. She surveys the room, equal parts predator and awkwardness. She crouches watching the bandits closely as the others make their way inside. She stands and draws herself up facing the guards, "Leave us, men of Bluerun. Rainca and her friends will speak with the hoar-suns now."

Axe swinging at her hip, newly cleaned of blood from the day before, Rainca rounds on the men, peering closely at them, looking to see that their wounds were properly tended, inspecting. Good that Serin Sisters do not take to their work lightly. She grunts with approval. She singles out the one she ran down on the previous day and moves in close, hand on the long hilt of one of her kukri. She studies him for far longer than is comfortable and far, far longer than is proper. Clear, hard grey eyes seek out every detail, while imperceptible movements bring her closer and closer until the man can feel her breath on his face.

"Have you eaten?"

ooc: going to asume everyone goes along so I can respond before work, more in ~6 hours...

The man seems very nervous at rainca's observation and confused at the politeness of her first question. After a moment he says. "Yeah.. er, yes maam, we've been fed well... er, better than we've been feeding ourselves, maybe we should have been arrested before, eh?" After an akward pause (durring which one of his companions shoots him a dirty look) he continues, "Its good of you to care, er, maam. We, er, I'm sorry for your friend's injuries - we thought we could just threaten a merchant for some goods and get on His Nibs good side... he'd let us into the gang you know? We should have hid when we saw you all, but Ronold said His Nibs was watching us and we had to show our bravery... poor Ronold, he was brave alright, but I guess not so smart, huh?"

The feral woman's nostrils flare as she breathes in the man's words, "Do not be nervous. Rainca will not hurt you." She studies the man again and sharply looks past him at the other captives, she continues, "Tell me about this Hiznibs?" She backs away slightly as she asks her question, to give the man some space, but keeps him just inside arm's length. She idly checks the draw on each of her blades.

The man coughs "Its a nickname sort of, for the leader of those bandits everyone's talking about... they say he's a by-blow... er, a son of noble outside of marriage, which I suppose there's plenty of, but this one was actually raised in his father's household for a while. So he's smart and they say he talks kinda fancy, thats why they call him His Nibs, like he's a lord or something. But the thing is, he's really pulled people together, made us feel like we don't have to put up with staying where our birth put us. His gang is really organized, and smart! So of course me and the guys wanted in on it, but obviously we weren't good enough." He seems as depressed by that realization as by his current situation.

Rather than speaking right away, Joseph Dar'maryon lowers the hood of his cloak. Joseph's dark eyes are fixed upon the man before him.

"Do you know how to contact this man?", Joseph slowly shifts his eyes towards the others under his 'protection' "What can you tell me of his recruitment policies?"

The curve of Joseph's lips settles into a slight smirk. "Before I forget, I've brought a small amount of wine to tide you over until I can have a talk with Therick."

OOC: I'm sorry for my lapse. We're currently in the process of selling our house; still I'll try not to let things spiral out of control again.

"he, I guess he comes to those he thinks are good enough, like. Ronold said he's tried to talk to some of his guys as they were riding back from town, asked if he could join, you know. They said His Nibs keeps his eyes out and if we showed we were worth something, he'd find us. We saw that owl out when you were riding in, they say he has a witch of some sort and her owl keeps an eye out for him, so that why Ronold thought we had to try." Casting for something more useful to say, he adds "I know they are out to the west of town. Maybe north a bit? They say there's a lot more of them than what come into town and they are training all the time to be better fighters."

OOC: Since nobody else asked for healing, I'm assuming Gath gets the 6 hp.

Having little interest in the prisonners, now that he decided not to 'smash' them, Gath follows Rainca's advice and goes to find Councilman Therick. But, after a little while, he realises he doesn't know were this Therick lives or works. He asks Redarn or the first person he meets, "You ! Where be count soul man Therik ? Me tell him, me no problem."

"Hmm, enough about Hiznibz. How many fighters are there? " Grunts Lupic not overly interested in small details.

"Its hard to say sir, as I never got accepted to the gang... They take raiding parties of six or so, but they are different each time. Some say he has scores of men, and some say he only has six and they wear different clothes to pretend to be more - but that last is really only said by the purebloods to talk him down, I think. I don't think he could have more than 20 or 30 men hidden in this area, they would be too big. I really don't know sir."
