[Adventure] The Cannith Caper (Judge: THB)

Rook nods, "Our guide awaits us in the Inn, let me gather him up..." Rook heads into the inn to find and hopefully hire the half-orc guide.

Rook opens the door to The Land's End Inn, seeing few patrons in the upscale tavern/inn. The tables are in good condition, well dressed men sip on glasses of wine while halfling's hurry to take care of their requests. A large-bellied halfling in a well-pressed suit sits behind the bar, he looks up at you as you come in.

"Welcome to The Land's End Inn, what can Jonner Boggins get for ya my cousin? You hear about our special for the short folk? We got special rooms for us, half the price too" the halfling says jovially, you notice a dragonmark on the proprietor, a Mark of Hospitality, identifying him as a member of House Ghallanda.

You see a half-orc look up for a moment then return to a map the humanoid is studying. He wears a well kept set of leather traveling clothes, a bow rests against the wall near his seat.

Rook smiles at his fellow halfling, "Thank you cousin, actually I am just meeting with a friend but I might be interested in your lodgings in the near future."

Passing by the halfling with a polite nod Rook makes his way to the half-orc's table.

*Ahem* "Excuse me sir, but I hear you might be able to help me and my friends..." Sitting down across from the half-orc Rook continues to tell him that they need a guide into the mountains, making sure to leave out some of the more important details.

Varak stays in the background. The niceities of this inn had him in near awe. He stared at the polished bar, the well dressed halfling barman, and the wine sippers. The half-orc shifts from foot to foot, clearly a bit uncomfortable in the surroundings.

Harressh is clearly happy to his companions when they reassemble. Time spent among large numbers of strangers seems to have made him a bit uncomfortable. The information about living spells seems to intrigue him, but he does not say anything.

He approaches the new mounts with some trepidation, but the well-trained creatures regard him evenly, and he seems to relax a bit. He approaches one and pats its nose with a yellow-scaled claw.

In the inn, he allows the others to take the lead, looking slightly uncomfortable again.

The halfling gives a polite bow, but Rook catches a disappointed look on the other's face. Nonetheless, you make your way to the half-orc who looks up from his plate, what look like bite sized slugs lie in a dark brown sauce. He says "You must try the mootu, it's delicious, although not sure if your palate can handle it. My name's Throm and you need a guide into the mountains, I know this area well. I can lead you, but I gotta ask, what's up in the mountains that you, and your friends" he points to the other half-orc and the dragonborn "need to find? My standard rate's 15 gold pieces a day, but if something is outta the ordinary, I need to have some hazard pay." the half-orc says.

[sblock=Time of Day]
I'd say about late afternoon now, it'd take a couple hours for the arcane folks to read through the books and for Rook/Harresh to dig up their info[/sblock]

Haltor mentally recalls his count of the funds and shrugs. I am no tracker or finder of trails; I have always had those with such eyes guide me. Funds I think we have, though any spent is coin less for us later.

The half-orc continues to whisper to Haltor. "My eyes are keen from tracking outsiders, but maybe we can just get advice from the one that has been in the area." The barbarian rubs one of the teeth emerging from his bottom lip, as if thinking.

"Perhaps we could pay him for a days worth of work, without hazard pay, and he could make a detailed map of that area for us, or mark our map with things to look out for?" Vistrathis suggests quietly to the others.
