[Adventure] The Cannith Caper (Judge: THB)

Haltor shrugged and kept his own counsel. He did not care one way or the other: Either he came and that'd be another they'd have to look afte, or he didn't and they only gained part of his knowledge. All paths were danger.

"Very well, here, come closer and I'll tell ya a bit about what I know" the half-orc says, gesturing to his table, where he quickly rolls up a map that had been sitting there.

Jonner (the halfling proprietor) appears delighted and will bring anyone refreshments that are desired.

He speaks of various hazards in the south, especially around the Darguun border with the Mournlands. The half-orc is well spoken and appears to have a solid understanding of the region.

As the half-orc was explaining things, Rook pulled Haltor aside, "I've got to run, something's come up, I just contacted by my family and need to go, let the others know not to wait up for me. Be careful" he whispers then leaves.

As he wraps up, the sun is beginning to fall towards the the horizon. Jonner is seen rubbing his hands together as he approaches, "So it's getting mighty late, I got a few rooms I could spare for if you want to rest a bit afore morning?" he asks jovially.

Exact mechanical effect will be revealed later.

So two questions. 1) will you be staying the night & 2) which route will you take to the mountains? a Straight shot across the open fields or down the Orien trade route through New Cyre & Kennrun. Note: This travels across the Darguun border and you'll need identification papers to pass

We appear to have lost Reklaw so he's out for now. Also, thaco hasn't posted since 2/26, anyone heard from him? If nothing in the next few days, he'll stay behind too.

Harressh stretches. "I think we'd be wise to spend the night and get a fresh start tomorrow." He walks over to the proprietor. "You seem very pleased to see us... business been slow lately?"

[sblock=route]What would be involved with getting ID papers? Also, did the guide tell us anything that would suggest pros and cons of either route?[/sblock]

Varak nods at the dragonborn's words. "A goods night rest after a night of planning and a few drinks sounds fine to me." The warrior scratches a bit of gunk from one exposed tooth and then calls out the halfling. "Water, the bubbly kind, a pitcher, and enough glasses for all of us!"

[sblock=ID papers]
You'd need to request from the Breland government to have some made, so you'd have to travel to a government location, they'd take down a detailed description of your PC, name, residence, and, if applicable, any connections to dragonmarked houses, large institutions, etc. I would imagine they might take a little time to get, but stonegod might know a bit better than I.

Regardless, I would just maybe handwave it and you'd have to pay the costs for the item[/sblock]

[sblock=Pros/Cons]
The Straight-way. Faster, less administrative red tape (check points, etc), but a more difficult path, not as safe as the Orien trade route.

The trade route way - safer, but longer and with having to deal with the Darguun/Breeland border. [/sblock]

As an FYI for those without ID papers, it costs 2gp for them so make sure you pay for them. With a portrait it's 5 gp[/sblock]

Haltor shrugs at the mention of lodging. The road is good for me, but a good nights rest under the House is always welcome.[sblock=Traveling/ID papers]These are two separate things. IDs are as r1 said. Traveling papers (2 sp, which require valid id) are used for border crossings. Of course, one can try to sneak across the border without them, but run the risk of Denneith border marshals...

Traveling papers can be had at most Sivis stations, lightning rail stations, or at border towns (usually at a mark-up).[/sblock]

[sblock=Traveling Papers/IDs] If we don't have them, but have the gold to spare, can we go ahead and purchase said ID's and traveling papers for 2gp and 2sp?[/sblock]
