[Adventure]The Eye of the Tiger(Judge: ???)

You make your way through the increasingly marshy terrain, following the tracks, until you find yourselves at the outskirts of a primitive village, consisting of a few huts and a firepit. The village is inhabited, but there is something strange about the residents. The lizardfolk are simply standing around, doing, well, nothing. Their weapons are at their hands, but besides that they seem at rest. Even curiouser, you see a warforged among them. He too is just standing there.

If they've noticed you, they aren't showing it. Thanks to the cover granted by the trees and other plants, though, it's not too likely they've seen you at all.

Tondrek perks up and looks about like he is going to wave or shout out, but then stops with a frown. Not right. No, not right. Bad, likely, bad. He licks the forefinger of his non-gauntleted hand and test the air, green an blue sparks reacting to the wind.

OOC: Arcana 28 and Nature 16 to detect what bad ju-ju is in the air (and how to stop it/not be affected)

Gren sniffs the air and begins breathing through his mouth afterwards. He beings moving slowly widdershins to examine from as many angles as possible. His eyes never leave the folk of the village. He doesn't stray far from the party, knowing they do not yet trust him.

[sblock=checks] I'm going to roll Perception and Insight. Perception for the obvious and Insight for the not so obvious.

Perception:19
Insight:17[/sblock]

[sblock=Clarifications] Are the lizardfold frozen in place, as if paralyzed or just standing still? How many in the village (even just a wide range)? Do they appear concentrated anywhere in particular. Do they look like they stopped mid-melee or are just chilling? I'm sure I have more questions and I'm sure I don't know what they are yet.[/sblock]

Thalen is unsure what is going on with the creatures, but she is uneasy and ensures her shield is ready. She has learned to trust the half-orc's concerns even if she was unsure how he does it.She draws her javelin also.

[sblock=ooc]
*Equip shield as an FYI. Draw javelin

nature; perception (1d20+8=15, 1d20+10=27) Perception is to look for something hidden, or if there's something we can't see affecting them. [/sblock]

There are about half a dozen lizardfolk visible. There may be more in the nearby huts, however. True, you can't hear anyone in there, but if they're as still as the ones outside, you wouldn't. There doesn't appear to be any obvious cause of their lack of motion.

[sblock=Tondrek]You detect... something strange in the air around them, but it is completely unfamiliar to you.[/sblock]

ooc: The lizardfolk and warforged are not frozen-still.

Tondrek puts down his finger after a bit of electricity from no where zaps it. Shaking out his hand absently, he adds, Definitely bad magic. Could be... no, no necronomagical, or.... no, no elenamental, or... prolly not, cuz we not all dead on the spot. He shrugs. Magic. Definitely magic.[sblock=THB]Does tondrek get a sense of a source or boundary (i.e., once past here is the effect)?[/sblock]

OOC: Insight to detect if there is a hint of the direction of the threat in some of the frozen or they were caught totally by surprise. Perception to notice something that doesn't belong in the village (beside warforged) and could be source of the effect.

"Let's check this. I'll step out and greet them. You be ready to pull me back." he whispers

If nobody objects Venakhad steps out of the forest looking sharply around and raising his hands in the greeting.

"Good day to you. Please don't be alarmed, I mean you no harm."

OOC: I don't think I'll get the opportunity to say more ,so I stop now :)

Insight; Perception (1d20+16=22, 1d20+9=17)

Rohna fails to find anything out of the ordinary as the others whisper and point at the sluggish lizardfolk. She whispers back to them, "Maybe a turn around the edge of the village will show us what we're missing?"

[sblock=Tondrek]It seems to permeate the air around you, albiet subtly. If you hadn't actively tried to sense something, it's unlikely you would have noticed it at all. As such, you can't determine anything like a boundary or source.[/sblock]

When Venakhad enters the clearing all of the village's inhabitants, warforged included, simultaneously turn to look at him. They don't seem particularly surprised at the intrusion, but the way their hands tense on their weapons makes Venakhad realize that the party hadn't been noticed. The lizardfolk start hissing menacingly and begin to advance on the cleric. Bizarrely enough, the warforged joins in, both in movement and in sound.

GM: Initiatives please. If you would like to move up from the bushes, perhaps interposing yourselves between the cleric and the lizards, before the combat starts in earnest, let me know and I will place you accordingly on the map.

Also, last call for tokens if you have a particular picture you'd like to use.
