(Adventure) The Island of Varras'zul (Manzanita Judging) (Concluded)

Of the party who tried to peer into the dark, only the Scun of Mongrel could catch a glimpse of fur amongst the trees.

ooc: Nope. Rasereit can't see it. He and most of the party (save for Scun and Nezrak) failed their spot check.

Currently waiting for others to announce how they are going to light the way.

Razh wakes up and stares forward groggily, oblivious to all around him. He catches Rillian's conversation with him, though.
RillianPA said:
"Wow that was some amazing fighting against the spiders Rasereit. Even without your axes you still were more effective than the rest of us put together! And you really chopped up that snake earlier too. I was wondering...could you teach me? I would really like to learn to fight better. Even just some sparing, when we have another chance would be great."
"Well well, m'boy! Ah'd be glad t'teach ye, if ye're willin' t'learn. 'Tis a hard art, controllin' yer rage like that, and it really takes it outta ye, y'know? But aye, Ah could teach ye, and- What? Why's everyone lookin' over..." He peers into the darkness, standing up as he does so, attempting to discern the elusive object of the party's attention. "By the gods, that's a big 'un. Ah don' know, Ah just don' know if Ah've got it in meh still. Bah! Little bugger probably won't even come near us, eh? Not after what weh did to his monstrous kin! Ha harr! Everyone up? Let's get out there and show those buggers what we're made of, what do ye say t'that?" "Bah! Don' see nothin' at all! Little bugger probably won't even come near us, eh? Not after what weh did to his monstrous kin! Ha harr! Everyone up? Let's get out there and let 'em know that we're not to be messed with, what do ye say t'that, eh y'wee gel?! Come on nah, get up!" He gathers his stuff and sets out into the dark jungle at the lead of the gang, unperterbed and confident that his dwarven sight will warn him of any would be attackers.

OOC: I assume that Razh can see whatever it is with his darkvision? My mistake. I thought since Razh was napping he wasn't included in the spot check rolls.

"I for one can't wait to get out of this sorry landscape!" says Ogrin. "Scun - how about I'll take your spot ahead and you scout the rear for the time being? You look a bit tired after the ordeal, whereas I, after Mona's tender care," Ogrin flashes a smile at the halfling cleric, "feel better than ever!"

OOC: If Scun's OK with switching places, Ogrin will walk in the front, probably a step or two behind Rasereit - don't want to get too close when he swings those axes against the undergrowth! He will be wielding a rapier in his sword hand and a torch in his off-hand until it burns out (removed from inventory).

Scun shrugs. "The back needs guarding as much as the front, I'll do that if you like." He then moves to the back of the column.

The undergrowth began to recede as the party from Orussus travelled deeper into Varras'zul. They easily lost sight of their furry observer, though there was doubt if they truly did lose it. Certainly the presence of a flame amongst them did not help hide their presence.

An hour into their journey, Ogrin's torch finally burned out. It was still dark. The group had a choice of going deeper into the jungle or making a new camp here.

Rasereit's arms have hardly slowed at all despite the vigorous hacking and slashing he has been doing to clear the path for his friends. He slices a bush into pieces and walks through. Calling over his shoulder he says,"Well mates, ye know mah vote!"

Scun looks to Mona for guidance. We do need to find a resting spot if we can, but the open jungle seems dangerous. Any ideas Mona?

Mona looked at the shadows of the jungle around her. "I know not if this place is safe enough for us. Nezrak did spy something watching us in our last camp. Do you see anything, Nezrak?"

Nezrak nor any of the party who looked into their surroundings saw any sign of their pursuer(s). They did notice that the jungle was very quiet (not completely silent) though.

Nezrak shook his head and asvered to Mona: "No, I don't see anything now. But that really doesn't mean much in this jungle. I think we should try to get as far as we can, or at least find a very good place for a camp before stopping. I wouldn't want to endure any more suprise attacks if possible."

/ooc I jusst want to make sure I read the post correctly nimisgod, you said that
The undergrowth began to recede
and that if we move on it will be
going deeper into the jungle

So right now we are in a relative clearing, and if we continue, the jungle will get thick again?

Assuming I am reading this correctly:

Rillian looks around at his weary companions. Then he considers the clearing around them, and the jungle ahead, before saying: "We dont know what is up ahead. Let us spend a few minutes clearing a camp here, and rest. Moving deeper into the jungle is something I think we should save for morning."
