(Adventure) The Island of Varras'zul (Manzanita Judging) (Concluded)

The half-orc's startled howl echoed across the camp and into the dark jungle around them, bringing a few birds to flight. It also had the effect of bringing out his comrades from their slumber (meditative trance in Nezrak's case).

Swift steps carried him to the campfire. There, he brought up a flaming brand. A glance told him and anyone who looked carefully that two more brands were usable as weapons.

The spiders continued to swarm over Rasereit. Poison was being pumped into his blood by the tiny pinpricks of their bites (4 points of damage, 6 total from this fight), but he resisted its effects with dwarven fortitude. By this time, he had recovered from the distraction of the vermin swarming upon him (No longer nauseated).

ooc: Rasereit's turn. Everyone else will act on the second round.

Rasereit (with his move action) shouts to his slumbering comrades "Wake up, ye bums! Get up! To arms!" as he draws his pick axe and retrieves his trusty waraxe from the ground next to him. As he stands, he stumbles slightly, a bit woozy from the poison of the arachnids. Half a moment later, his sturdy resolve returns, and he lets out a mighty warcry as he swings wildly at the swarm of spiders.

OOC: 1st Round: Draw weapons.
2nd Round: 2 weapon attack, +2 attack (1d10+3 damage), +2 attack (1d6+3 damage)

ooc1: A character with Two weapon fighting can draw both weapons in a single move action.

Spiders darted quickly around Rasereit. With one smooth movement, he took both axes in hand and hewed at the spiders with one of them. The vermin reacted with agility, dodging the dwarf's ax strike.

ooc2: Remember that those of you who have just awakened start out prone.

Scun's turn
 


Nezrak snaps awake from his trance, and shakes his head while trying to figure out the situation. Seeing way too many spiders, he quickly gets to his feet. His hand started to move towards the handle of his sword, but thinking that Scun might have figured out a better way, Nezrak makes his way towards the campfire too.

"Holy... that's a lot of spiders!", he says to nobody in particular. "Rasereit, you okay?"
 

The half-orc's new weapon had yet to be tested as the spiders were able to elude Scun's swings. They did seem afraid of the flame, though it did not dissuade them in the least from turning the dwarf's blood into food.

The spiders continued to swarm over Rasereit (6 more points of damage, 12 damage total). He managed to fend off the distraction from the swarm and the poison being pumped into him for the moment.

Ogrin wakes up with a start. "Whazzat?"

Seeing Rasereit fighting with a firebrand, covered with spiders, he quickly stands up and rummages through his pack for a torch to use in the same manner.

OOC: My next actions (including the following rounds) are: Standing up, finding a torch, moving to the fire to light it, then attack the swarm with the torch.
 


Ogrin shakes himself awake and realize than Scun is the one holding the firebrands, not Rasereit.

OOC: Oops!
 

"Cursed... spiders... won't... die!" cries Rasereit as he his dual axes spin around, doing absolutlely nothing to the unforgiving swarm. He notices the others with their torches, dashes towards the campfire, and grabs himself a flaming stick of his own.

OOC: AIEE!!! RUN RAZH!! Drop weapons (free), move to fire, pick up burning stick. I got mildly confused with the order of events here, so just disregard my earlier "2nd round" action.
