Scun sees his companion Ogrin fall under a vicious bite, and redoubles his efforts. He tries to tap in to his inner rage despite his fatigue.

ooc: rage and attack with flanking

His wild fury already got Razh between a rock and a swarm of hell-spawned bugs today, so rather than fall into his normally insane frenzy, Razh moves into a position where he can easily protect his fallen friend and then takes one good swipe at the giant thing with his waraxe.

OOC: If it's possible, I'd rather he take a 5' step to protect Ogrin, in which case he'd do a double attack. But it's probably not possible. I'm kinda having difficulty visualizing the battle. :p

Seeing his halfling companion Ogrin fall, Rillian feels like he is seeing his father Tril die. It starts at the base of his skull, and burns its way through his limbs. His anger, frustration, and his hatred for this creature bursts forth in a primal scream of rage. Abandoning careful defense, he focuses his rage and strikes at the spider.

ooc: barbarian heritage comes out! Imagine dramatic theme music as Rillian discovers his inner rage. (Too bad he cant actually rage until next level :( )

The Fury took hold of Scun, filling his thews with even greater potency. He swung his sickle in a vicious arc, ripping one of the Spider's legs from its hairy body. Bodily fluids sprayed from the critical wound.

Nezrak let loose a bolt from his crossbow. It flew through the air and into the mud.

Rasereit took his stand, stepping between the Giant Vermin and his halfling victim. The area around him becomes a storm of steel as he launched a flurry of swings at the Spider. During one such swing, his hand axe drew the Spider's blood.

The Spider recoiled from Scun's fierce strike, retaliating with a bite that was just as vicious. Scun now bore two deep gouges on his weapon arm, though he seemed to be indifferent to the pain and the poison.

Ogrin convulsed, his body still struggling with the venom in its system.

Beset with his own form of rage, Rillian stabbed into the Spider's abdomen. Bodily fluids spurted from the wound and unto the swordsman.

Boldened by the shock of Ogrin's fall, Mona began to move toward the battle. The halfling ducked and weaved her way to Scun, where she touched his calf and cast a spell of Guidance upon him to aid his attack or his defense (against poison).

"Hold on, Ogrin!" she cried out to him, though she knew that he could not hear her.

Combat Summary:

The fight intensified with each passing second. The party's melee combatants took to a fighting frenzy, dealing out injury to the Gorilla Spider. In exchange for felling Ogrin, the savage half-orc Scun severed one of the spider's legs. Razh and Rillian cut and stabbed their own ways to bloody vengeance, with the dwarf holding ground between fallen halfling and vermin.

Nezrak turned to non-magickal means of attack, taking up the crossbow and loosing bolts from his quiver. Earstwhile, Mona had recovered from her terror. She approached the melee, giving divine aid to Scun and hoping to get to Ogrin before he expired.

The Spider landed a nasty bite on Scun, but the enraged half-orc was affected little by the poisoned wound.

Scun bares his teeth in a vicious snarl and gives a gutteral cry, swinging his curved weapon again. He knows that this is how nature intended for things to go. Kill or be killed.

Nezrak reloads and shoots again at the spider. The success of his companions is giving him a little bit more determination.
