[Adventure] The Paper Chase (Judge: renau1g)

"Are we done here? The Eladrin laid claim to his blasphemous items - take them so we can move on. But know this, Larsten, you are known to Balinor and he will remove you from the circle of life for your transgressions."

OOC: Is there anything else we want to know> kal'Tarron still wants to fulfill his oath, then take a long, long nap ;)

OOC: Will Larsten come after us? Is he crazed enough by the promises of power to come later? Passive Insight 21

"We will leave you, Larsten. But don't come after us. Power can be obtained in many ways and listening to Khyber promises is NOT one of them. The price is too steep, always. Remember, you're not negotiating with those powers in exchange for some part of your soul. You're giving yourself for eternity in exchange for few years of power."

OOC: Orsik thinks this guy is probably crazed enough by power to do just about anything. He strikes him as a seething mass of hate and megalomania that is currently just barely held in check by fear.

Orsik hefts his maul onto the shoulder in as non-threatening manner as huge goliath with such weapon can manage.
"Promise!"

he demands of the necromancer looking for any sign of falsehood.

As based on insight 21 (or should I roll?)[sblock=If he doesn't seem to repent and will come after us]
"He's crazed by the power. False promise that won't be kept. kal'Tarron, he's all yours."
[/sblock]

[sblock=If he really seems to reconsider]
"Remember what I told you about power. Your soul is too valuable. Gain power some other way!"
[/sblock]

"Promise what?" The necromancer spits, irritation finally seeming to get the better of his self-preservation instincts. "Promise to be governed by the moralising whims of some puritanical ignoramus without the first conception of the nature of my powers? No."

We will leave you, Larsten. But don't come after us...
I thought it clear, sermonizing notwithstanding :)

[sblock=OOC]Consider this post a placeholder, I will not be posting again at least for 24 hours. If somebody does something to stop Orsik, he's willing to listen, but only so much. And you need to take the avenger into consideration too :)[/sblock]

The maul leaves the shoulder in a quick downward swing
[sblock=Somewhat graphic]
*crack, squish* sounds of the maul splattering the brains out of the fool.
[/sblock]

"Can we get some rest now? Oh, get the zombie, too."

If Coup de Grace still applies, it's 18 + Extra crit damage (1d6=5) +2 if extra damage from a daily still applies (it should if it's less then 5 minutes, unless the encounter is over) - 23 or 25 damage

OOC: Also, I cannot believe I forgot about class feature Wrathful Hammer. It would affect only one damage roll since the attacks I did either missed or killed undead. But that last charge on the necro would do extra +3 damage. Luckily, it didn't affect the outcome :( I'll put a reminder in stat block :(

kal'Tarron's axe follows a moment behind Orsik's maul, opening up the falling necromancers belly. He wipes the blade clean with the pink stained trim of his vestments while offering a silent prayer to Balinor.

He then turns to the final zombie and attacks it.

OOC: Is the zombie capable of defending itself at this point?

if it is:
Minor: OoE,
Standard: Bond of Retribution 1d20+10=26, 1d20+10=18, 1d12+6=8

The necromancer is brutally dispatched, and his last zombie minion, weakened from the fight and deprived of its weapon, soon follows. All is peaceful in the shadowy temple once more

[sblock=OOC]More of a Wis than an Int issue. ;) Congrats guys! There was a while there when I was worried that I was going to kill you all, and then kal'Tarron got back up and everybody started rolling hits and suddenly I was worried that I wasn't going to kill anybody. And indeed I didn't. :.-(

I assume that you're going to want to pick the place over for loot. Is there anything else that you wanted to do, or are you heading back to Professor Farrow? If I don't hear otherwise then I'll go ahead and write a wrap-up post.[/sblock]
