Adventure: The Power of Knowledge (DM: Fragsie, Judge: TwoHeadsBarking)

[SBLOCK=Marching Order]Here is what I propose: Skalisss and Growl in Front, Ceryx and Shane behind them.

Skalisss will attempt to maintain a defensive position when we encounter enemies, he tells you this up front. If you want the benefit of his protection then stay close. He likes to find bottlenecks and cover when possible.[/SBLOCK]

After 30 seconds the others, in a box formation, sneak down the stairs.

Stealth (1d20-3=10)

[sblock=OOC]I'm just waiting on a response from Kalidrev about what Mikara is up to before I post the map n stuff for round one.

Don't worry about the stealth check, the group got surprise as reward for the skill challenge. I've rolled your guys initiative;

22 - Brother Shane (HP-24/24 S-8/8)
19 - Growl (HP-35/35 S-11/11)
12 - Ceryx (HP-28/28 S-9/9)
11 - Skalisss (HP-39/39 S-11/11)
8 - Mikara (HP-20/20 S-6/6)

[sblock=Mikara Only]If Mikara doesn't attack, she can make two stealthy moves (four squares) before the others arrive (I know I said she couldn't but I want to give you some sort of advantage for your stealthy moves).[/sblock][/sblock]

[sblock=Stealthy Moves] All right! You rock Fragsie! I'll have Mikara move at full speed (taking the -5 penalty to stealth check (so now Passive Perception of 28 would see her) and I'll have her move from J18 > J17 > J16 > N15 (ends move 1) > O15 > P14 > O10 (end of move 2).

If this is too much of a reward (and I'll completely understand it if it is), then I'll just wait until the rest of the group arrives and use Skallis as cover (place me directly behind him on the map).

If you DO allow my double-full-move-at-penalty as above, then please have Mikara place an Assassin's Shroud on the unique human (top-left human with a pic different from everyone else) (this is a free action once per round)[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC\Steathy Moves]Hmmm, I had intended to give you two moves without needing another stealth check (ie 4 squares only), but I would let Mikara make one full move (getting you to N15) needing a new stealth check please.
I've gone ahead and put you at N15 for the sake of expedience, if you want to retcon it will be done :p[/sblock]

Encounter A1: The forgotten Shrine (lvl 4)

Before you is a large cavernous chamber; though you are sure it was a magnificent spectacle in its day, once beautiful murals are now pitted and broken, stone pillars; covered in worn carvings of glorious battles are now in disrepair and half of the large warrior statues that surround the room have crumbled into piles of stone. At the far end of the chamber a nefarious looking gang of humans have deposited the four massive bodies of the missing minotaurs at the foot of a broken alter under the stern gaze of a well muscled young man with a nasty looking spiked chain hanging from his shoulder.

[sblock=Status]
beyond the dais at the foot of the steps the shine is dimly lit, so if you don't have low-light vision or better foes have concealment.

Squares marked with a small triangle are difficult terrain.

Don't forget that you all have 2 AP, please make sure you post your mini statblock on every combat post and keep it updated. The order you post is the order your character takes their actions, once combat has begun initiative will have little impact.

Surprise round; a single action each please :cool:

26 - Human Bandit 1
- Human Bandit 2
- Human Bandit 3
- Thomas () 1 shroud
- Human Rabble 1
- Human Rabble 2
- Human Rabble 3
- Human Rabble 4
- Human Rabble 5
- Human Rabble 6
22 - Brother Shane (HP-24/24 S-8/8)
19 - Growl (HP-35/35 S-11/11)
12 - Ceryx (HP-28/28 S-9/9)
11 - Skalisss (HP-39/39 S-11/11)
8 - Mikara (HP-20/20 S-6/6) hidden

[sblock=map] Yer map is broken Fragsie... oh, and N15 is fine. Since we have 2 AP, are you also going to allow us to spend both AP on this fight, or are we still limited to 1 per battle? [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC to all] As you can see from Fragsie's post above, Mikara is extremely frail (only 20 HP). She is going to need as much help as you can give to keep her from dying. At the same time, she packs a punch in the right situations. She's been great in the skill challenges, now it's time to see if she can back up her bravado and words =P [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Map should be fixed now, yes you can spend both action points in this fight (it's intended to balance out the fact you're missing a member, and you're mostly lvl 1's), but only one per round.[/sblock]

[sblock=Surprise Round]
DnDi Compendium said:
Limited Action: If you get to act in the surprise round, you can take a standard action, a move action, or a minor action. You can also take free actions, but you can’t spend action points.

Just for reference in case anyone forgot what can happen in a Surprise Round :) [/sblock]

Mikara slinks from the stairs to the first statue on the right. Moving like she were nothing but a shadow, she creeps around the statue to get close to one of the boss's minions, melding with shadows of another statue. Staring at her target across the room, Mikara calls to Thomas's own shadow, causing the little dark spots all over his skin to converge on vulnerable areas of his body in a manner that only she can see.

[sblock=Mikara's Actions]
- Move: Mikara moves to O-10.
- Free: Places another Assassin's Shroud on Thomas (2 down, 2 to go *rubs hands together*)
[/sblock]

[sblock=Mikara Only]From her new vantage point Mikara can see two humans armed with halberds hiding behind one of the large statues (in squares P13 and P14), they have spotted the rest of the party at the shrines entrance but do not seem to be in a hurry to give away their position.[/sblock]
