[Adventure] The Second Day of Mourning (Judge: renau1g)

The gnome is lost in his own world of mechanical wonder and has taken out a magnifying glass and is examining all of the interior parts of the messenger.

"Ooooooh, interesting! Ooh, I'll have to poke around with that. I wonder what would happen if I added that to... nah, that would probably explode...huh? Oh, the gem? Yes, well... hrmm. To put it simply, the outer amber cover that is shaped into the gem (as you see it) is practically mundane. It has a few minor arcane enhancements for protection of the outer covering. Deep within the gem, however, seems to be something emanating a rather strong combination of arcane and divine presences. They are too strong for me to be able to accurately assess what it is those presences do, and on top of it, one of the enchantments of the amber covering seems to be masking or filtering out those other energies, which makes it much more difficult to get a reading on it. You would need someone much more knowledgeable than I, to figure out what that little pretty is. I'll tell you one thing, though; good luck in finding someone like that in Sharn that won't have you scrambling across the continent for some random reagent or quest for one such thing or another."

Grryth quietly replies back to Alexia, "I agree that we should get back to Gurdis' place quickly. Regarding him" Grryth motions towards the gnome "I wasn't thinkin he'd help us with any plans. He just seemed to know sumthin about that gem, and since Gurdis couldn't tell us more than the fact it was a family heirloom, I thought perhaps that gnome could rub heads with those of us that know sumthin about magical things and we could learn a thing or two about the item we are supposed ta be pertectin.

Gurdan nods. "We've got what we came for - let's go make good on our promise."

"Perhaps that lovely little lady will have some more of that hardy brew waiting for us," he adds, smiling.

The trip back to Gurdis's house through Sharn is a calm and pleasant stroll (except for the market area, where people avoid Lo-Kag like the plague). Upon reaching the upper areas of Sharn, you find Gurdis waiting for you.

"So? Do ye be havin' me gem? Tell me all 'bout th'chase and that... flyin' thing. It get 'way er did y'smash'm good?"

As the party explains what happened, Gurdis leads the party back to her house where, indeed, another meal is on the table. A separate plate of raw horse meat is set aside for Lo-Kag and a lovely thick soup is steaming from several bowls along her now cleaned up table.

"Yer jus'n'time fer lunch. I fig'erd ye'd be back soon. I have somethin' t'discuss with ye but y'may's well git relaxed while we talk."

Too bad he's not around to enjoy it...

He gives him his best dragonborn menacing grin, then heads towards the other room to rest, not waiting for a reply.

I think he's still napping in the tower.

Well, I'm sure we woke him up before we left.[/sblock]

"With all due respect, ma'am, given recent events it will be hard to relax with whatever you wish to talk about hanging over our heads."

[sblock=Insight I don't know, do you think you're good at reading people? You decide.]Alexia seems to be much tenser after having left the tower.[/sblock]

"As for you shapeshifter, in my opinion, I don't think that you can trust yourself with everything going on inside that head of yours. As long as you pull your weight in battle, that's all I ask for. Believe me, I'll know if you're slacking off."

Kinion replies, "I'm not a shapeshifter! They are underhanded murderous thieves and any upstanding citizens run them out of town."

Occ: That probably needs a bluff with Beguiling Toung 1d20+24=25!
Lol Natural One anyone with a decent insight should see through it.

Grryth listens to the changeling explain his condition, and although still uncertian about the random shapeshifting decides to let the matter drop for now.

"Hmm OK, sounds reasonable enough. Now I don't care too much if yer turnin inta a grey haired old man, a hulkin minatour or a pig tail, skirt wearing, lollipop lickin little scholl girl - as long as yer knowing which side yer fightin fer, yer OK in my books"

"Oh so you've met Masumi too?"

"So? Do ye be havin' me gem? Tell me all 'bout th'chase and that... flyin' thing. It get 'way er did y'smash'm good?"

[sblock=Occ]Um Kinion wouldn't know about this, or would he, but where is the Salesman we left alive and knocked out?[/sblock}

If you had rolled a natural -1, Alexia would have caught that. So, while I don't think anyone believes you're not a changeling, I guess we all believe that you believe you're not a changeling. I think.

Um Kinion wouldn't know about this, or would he, but where is the Salesman we left alive and knocked out?

That is an excellent question.[/sblock]

"zzzz zzzz zzzzzz heh...what..oh..we're going back where...dwarf...pancakes?...oh yeah. okay"

ooc: thanks for waking me up guys!

Lo-kag chomps greedily at his horse meat while listening to what his companions and the dwarf have to say about the gem.

ooc: no extended rest then right. We get our encounter powers back, but not our daily ones. If so, I've got to change my stat block.

[sblock=absolutely random ooc] I was back on the main page that shows all of threads and was looking at the post counts. About 3 weeks to a month ago, we were actually beating the Tower's Shard thread for post counts. Now it has pulled ahead by about a hundred posts... what happened to the zeal and excitement guys? Am I making things too complicated/boring? Lemme know so I spice things up and get us ramped up again! We used to post several times a day, now we're only posting once ever day or every other day. Let's get this back into action. We're getting to the good parts now and on to the 'travel' phase of the campaign. I know the beginning of this part was slow as you guys were just waiting for something to happen with the gem, but the rest should be more exciting (at least I think so).

Renau1g: I will shortly here be giving you an idea of what the next part is going to consist of as far as encounters/skill challenges are concerned. Thanks for all of the advice you've given me so far! [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]
I look forward to it. As an aside, 1 post/day is still a pretty good post rate, PbP games that are longer than a couple months usually fall into this more stable level of posting. I run a Red Hand of Doom game and it is usually posted in about every other day or so. That being said, it is always great when things can move quicker. Heck, I am hoping for that for my LEB game...
