"Ah, sure, leave it to the dwarf to take care of things," Gurdan says. He moves quickly toward the heart of the blaze (OOC: Gurdan will move wherever he needs to go to get in range for his skill check, opportunity attack be damned), drawing his weapon. He tries his best to seek out the source of the flames, hoping to isolate the fire and starve it of further fuel. Gurdan lets out a roar as the flames wash over him (OOC: Perception 15, Endurance 16 ).

[sblock=ooc everyone]
Sorry all for the mishap. Kalidrev and I have communicated about the whole thing and I believe that we're on the same page now and ready to go. Basically, I made a series of bonehead mistakes by misinterpreting what Kalidrev said.

I've enjoyed our adventure so far and look foward to more action packed adventure, role playing, and killing bad guys in the future. I hope this didn't put a damper on the adventure.

thanks

[sblock=OOC] Yeah, everything's all good now! Sorry for that folks! I still haven't seen anything from Garrick, so I'm going to be having him use an at-will attack this round, and then if it comes to it again, I may ask for a volunteer to take over his character for the rest of the battle (unless of course he "wakes up"). If we don't hear anything from him by the end of the battle, I think I will look for a replacement (though I'd hate to have to do that). I'm at home right now, so can't post an update, but I'll be a work in the morning and I'll digest everything that has happened this round and post a new map and my baddies actions. [/sblock]

Recap of Rail Fight: Round 1 and begining of Round 2

Tracker feels a tingle in body, a shiver running through his chassis and sees dozens of ghostly flowers sprouting from him. Angered at the display, he pulls his cart over to the hole in the west side of the rail and jumps aboard. In mid-air, the warforged's body twists and reshapes itself into the metalic semblance of a wild cat, it's tail a wide, tear-shaped plate of spikes. As it's back feet hit the floor of the rail car, the wild cat leaps forward and around you, landing in front of the meddling arcanist.

Roaring with a fierceness that shakes the rail car, the wild cat slashes Masumi with both of it's front claws, drawing several lines of blood across her chest and shoulders. The cat grins at the three opponents he sees before him and backs off a step, daring them to attack.

The rest of Trackers crew follow his orders and surge north, firing off their elemental cannons. The blasts hit the rail's main engine dead on and flames begin to spew forth from the devastation!

Masumi is taken aback by the sudden fierce attack. Grabbing her Quickcurse rod she says, "get away" trying to will the panther to the other side of the train.

[sblock=Ongoing Damage] Masumi took the 5 ongoing damage on her turn. Since she did not save, she will take another 5 HP of damage on her turn and will get another save at the end of her turn to stave off the bleeding [/sblock]

The metal jungle cat spots the little girl going for the rod by her side, and before she can aim the rod at him, it swipes it's claws at her once more, leaving another deep line of red in her side. This causes the warlock to let off the spell at the wrong time, and while the arcane energies blast the beast back a few steps, it did not have the effect she was looking for. However, a ghostly trail seems to lead itself from the cat's chest to the Masumi's rod. It seems that a flick of the wrist might just send more arcane energies through the trail and into Tracker once more.

[sblock=OOC] At this point, Masumi is down to 9 HP. Will she survive? :devil: Until Tracker saves, as a minor action, she can sustain her daily power and slide Tracker 1 square in the direction of her choice [/sblock]

Alexia practically jumps out of her skin when the elemental energies course through her, but she recovers quickly enough. She draws her sword as she moves to the newly created aperture, leaving her shield in her seat. Locker her gaze on the nearest bandit, she beacons towards him with her empty hand as though asking him to dance. She then clenches her hand into a fist and pulls it back towards herself. The man jerks out of his seat. Alexia notices Lo-Kag behind her, grimaces, and repeats the gesture against another bandit.

Alexia's cutting words angers the two bandits enough that they actually take a step forward towards her, in menace, but at the last second they realize what she was doing when an elemental blast of air keeps them upright. The second bandit she used her magical compulsion on was unarmed in their mental fight and took quite a mental beating, one of his eyes filling with blood after a vessel burst within it.

Alexia notices Lo-Kag take the fight to Tracker. "Thanks Lo-Kag. I still despise you, but at least you aren't currently trying to kill me."

Lo-kag yells back to Alexia, "Hey, even though we hate each other, I'm not stupid. Your fighting skills are...pretty good...and I'm glad we're fighting on the same side."

Lo-Kag realizes that he needs a firing mechanism for the elemental cart if he wants to use it, as he dashes past the hole in the side of the car. He gives the foe on the cart a menacing grin. He then turns to the group surrounding the foe that jumped into the train "He's got a metal rod that I need. We must find it so that I can fire the cannon."

He shouts to Grryth to attack, but his voice is drowned out by the roaring of the engine and the fire that is blazing away.

Alexia rolls her eyes at the "pretty good" comment, but doesn't say anything in response.

Grryth snarls and faces the warforged-turned-animal and while not taking his eye off his prey and keeping his defenses up he moves into a flanking position with gurdan.

"Grrrr, I'm really startin ta hate these guys" he grumbles, and he takes a measured swing at the metal beast to test it's defenses. The metal cats' hide rings as the shifters' blade skims off of it. It seems that hacking directly through the beast may not be easy. Grryth does get the beasts attention though, as he can tell when it turns towards him, lowered to the ground in a pouncing stance.

"Ah, sure, leave it to the dwarf to take care of things," Gurdan says. He moves quickly toward the heart of the blaze, drawing his weapon.

Seeing the dwarf trying to sneak by, the metal cat swings its' spiked tail at him and grazes him as he passes by.

[sblock=Attack of Op] Tracker attacks Gurdan and hits for 7 damage [/sblock]

[sblock=Grryth] I assumed that you wanted to mark Tracker on your attacks, but please make sure that you designate this in your entries if you are (and especially if you are NOT), as I will assume as much if nothing is detailed. Since Tracker took his attack of op on Gurdan, you can use Combat Challenge if you wish. [/sblock]

Gurdan tries his best to seek out the source of the flames, hoping to isolate the fire and starve it of further fuel. Gurdan lets out a roar as the flames wash over him.

Unfortunately, the smoke billowed out, dark and sooty, directly in Gurdan's face, and he was unable to see anything more than the glowing sparks that burned his eyes.

[sblock=Skill Challenge] Successes: 0 Failures: 1

Gurdan loses 1 Healing Surge for failing the Endurance Check

[/sblock]

Garrick stares daggers into the metal cat and the spectral flowers that were once on him wither and die, being replaced with a ghostly green swirl of spirits. Approaching cautiously across from Masumi, Garrick swings his double-sided weapon in a great underhanded arc in an attempt to shove the enemy out of the "doorway" that was created in the side of the rail car. The blade slices through some of the metal in the beasts undersides and flings it away. The cat slams against the cars' western wall and then is magically dragged towards the hole in the side of the car.

[sblock=Garricks Actions]
- Minor: Curse Tracker, replacing Masumi's curse.
- Move: Move to Tracker, flanking with Masumi
- Standard: Eldritch Strike. Hits AC 29 for 15 damage. Also deals 2 curse damage for a total of 17 damage.
[/sblock]

------ Round 2 ------

Tracker roars once more, shaking the cabin. Springing forward a step he whips his tail towards the group of foes in front of him, releasing the dozens of spikes from the tear-shaped plate. The spikes embed themselves in each of his foes and they begin to feel their strength slowly ebbing away from them. After making sure that he had poisoned his foes, Tracker quickly jumps to the middle of the rail car and roars once more.

A veritable jungle begins to spring up around Tracker, obscuring your view of him. The magical vines and plants seem to be in tune with Trackers movement and part for their creator as he moves about but keep themselves directly in your view, giving you less to target on the metallic cat.

This last assault leaves Masumi reeling and she falls to the ground, the poison in her veins and the blood flowing from her wounds very quickly beginning to steal the life from her.

Hearing their master roar, the bandits speed their carts to the rail car as close as they can, the wheels of one creating sparks while it grinds against the wheels of the other.

The bandit on Tracker's side of the rail car draws a dagger as it enters the cabin and spots Alexia's back. He throws his dagger through the jungle of vines, which part for the approaching dagger. The dagger slices into Alexia's side but causes no lasting damage.

One of the bandits that Alexia had attacked, but did little damage to rams his cart into the side of the rail car and allows the momentum of the crash to launch him into the vine filled cabin. Alexia stabs her sword into the altered thugs gut and is rewarded with the sound of ripping flesh. The thug felt the bite of steel in his abdomen and it causes his attempt at an acrobatic attack to fail as he swings wide.

The bandit with the blood-filled eye pulls his cart up to the others and draws a dagger to throw at Alexia. Stepping towards the other cart, his pants get caught in the spinning, sparking wheels and he is dragged under and run over by his own cart, breaking bones and shredding flesh as he cartwheels from the impact of the ground speeding by.

The last bandit steers his cart just ahead of the others and leaps aboard the first cart while drawing his mace, a wicked grin spreading across his face. Grabbing the mace by the end, he swung his weapon in an overhead slam but clips the top of the cabin. This causes his attack to go well short of his intended target and the grin is replaced by shock as he realizes that he would be left very open if it weren't for the magical vines that were blocking Alexia's vision of the bandit.

[sblock=Actions]

Tracker:
- Move: Move 1 square to O-8
- Standard: Uses Hail of Thorns. This is a close blast 3 attack and hits Masumi (24), Lo-Kag (27), Grryth (18), and then Garrick (26) for 9 poison damage. All four PCs now have Ongoing 5 poison (save ends).
- Action Point: Move Action to use Windborne Step, which lets him shift 2 squares to P-10.
- Minor Action: Tracker uses Natures Abundance. This is a close burst 3 zone that gives Tracker and his allies cover while they are within the zone. It does not provide cover for any of Trackers allies. This effect will last until the end of the Encounter.

Bandit 1:
- Move: Move to P-8
- Minor: Draw dagger.
- Standard: Throw dagger at Alexia and hits her for 7 damage.

Bandit 2:
- Minor: Draw Mace
- Move: Moves to Q-11, provoking an Opportunity Attack from Alexia. Alexia hits Bandit 2 for 13 damage.
- Standard: Uses Dazing Strike against Alexia but misses.

Bandit 3:
- Move: Moves to Q-14
- Minor: Draw dagger.
- Standard: Throw dagger at Alexia and Rolls a nat 1!!.

This causes him to lose his balance and he fails his saving throw to stay on the cart. This causes Bandit 3 to take 27 falling damage and he must now spend 2 full rounds running at full speed to catch up with the train.

Bandit 4:
- Move: Moves to Q-13
- Minor: Draw Mace
- Standard: Uses Dazing Strike against Alexia and but he, too, misses.

Note to Alexia: You can thank Invisible Castle for saving your butt! ;)

[sblock=Death of Masumi?]

Masumi is at exactly 0 HP and has ongoing 5 (untyped) (save ends) and ongoing 5 poison (save ends). She will take the 10 HP of damage at the beginning of her turn and she can save at the end of her turn to stop the ongoing damage. I need a death saving throw from Masumi at the end of her turn. It does not provide cover for any of Trackers allies. This effect will last until the end of the Encounter.

I'm sure you meant to say "enemies" there.

Note to Alexia: You can thank Invisible Castle for saving your butt! ;)

What can I say? I lead a charmed life.[/sblock]

Alexia is taken aback to find herself suddenly facing down all of the attacks. She takes a step back, careful not to trip over the newly introduced flora. As she does so, she weaves a quick hex to drain the luck from one of the bandits and grant it to Massumi. Uncertain as to her spell's effectiveness, she follows it up with another. The blood stops flowing from Massumi's wounds as her body is jerked to a new location.

[sblock=Actions]Move: Shift to O12.
Standard: Dissonant Strain against Bandit 2. Hits Will 15 for 14 psychic damage. Oh, that wretched cover is going to ruin my day, isn't it. Well, on a hit, Bandit 2 takes -2 to attack until the end of my next turn, and Massumi gets to make a save.
Minor: Majestic Word on Massumi, healing surge+4 and sliding her to L8 unless you rather be slid to a different square.

I'm moving back to help with the Skill Challenge.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] Yeah, lol, I DID mean to say "enemies", not "allies", heh. [/sblock]

Alexia's quick hex finds its way through the tangle of plants and into the ears of one of her attackers. The bandit tries to cover his ears, but it's too late. The sound reverberated in his head over and over until blood ran from his ears in a thick, chunky river that oozed down his neck and stained his shirt collar red. The bandit looks dizzy.

[sblock=Masumi] Here she comes to save the daaaaaaay!

Well, it looks like Masumi will pull through on this one. Alexia's Majestic Word allows Masumi to spend a healing surge and she gains 13 HP from it.

Alexia's Discordant Strain spell hit, so Masumi gets to make an immediate Saving Throw against either of her ongoing damages. A success will negate that damage before it can happen.

I think Masumi owes Alexia a big 'ol hug! ;) [/sblock]

[sblock=The curse has been lifted]My L4W character finally hit with an At-will, and my LEB character finally hit with a non-At-will. Hooray![/sblock]

ooc: lo-kag delays his turn as he can do more damage if his allies are closer to the enemies

[sblock=resourcefull presence reminder]

If an alley spends an action point to perform an attack, if a hit: +7 additional damage to the attack; miss: +7 temp hp added to the attacker.

Round 2
[sblock]Yes thank you Alexia very much!
Also I'm confused on how the saves work.[/sblock]
Free save from Alexia (against untyped) 1d20=15

Move action: Step to K9
Minor action: Maintain Curse of the Dark Dream sliding Tracker to O9 (and hopefully giving attacks of opportunity to her allies)
Standard Action: Arcana check to keep the engine from blowing up! 1d20+11=12!
Additional saves if nessary
Vs. untyped 1d20=14
Vs. Poision 1d20=5

After a haze of pain and red Masumi Regains her whits next to the fire after Alexia's healing. Taking a moment to put the kitty where her friends can teach it a lesson she tries frantically to find a switch or some control that can bring stability back to the engine or put out the fire!
