[Adventure] The Second Day of Mourning (Judge: renau1g)

[sblock=Shifts] All right, correct me if I'm wrong or you want to change shifts here, but the volunteered shifts are:
1: The late shift; 9pm to 5am; Garrick and Lo-Kag
2: The morning shift; 5am to 1pm; Alexia and Gurdan
3: The evening shift; 1pm to 9pm; Grryth and Lord Jarot

I am going to consider 1 day to be concluded after the 3rd shift ends. I will consider you to be sleeping for 1 shift after your shift ends, then you can be awake and active during the shift before your own. I am going to post updates in 1/2 shift blocks. During this period of time, I would like you to post what your character is doing and I may ask for skill checks to mess with you if it is appropriate to the situation. I hoping this provides for a tense yet fun environment, but after a few shifts, if you guys feel that it is too slow a pace, let me know and I'll speed things up. [/sblock]

[sblock=whoops]Didn't realize that the shifts would be covering 24 hours. I thought is was just for the nights. If this is the case, we should have one of the pairings with low-light vision take the late shift.

It sounds like a cool idea though.[/sblock]

Occ: The plans look fine to me and Lord Jarot is wearing his armor when on watch.

Grryth pretty much stays out of the discusion regarding who will be taking which shift, but as the others seem to have finalised the plan Grryth wanders over.
"I'm good wit the evenin shift, but I'll be stayin up through the late shift as well. Nutin wrong wit yer plan, just a personal preference is all. I'll gets my sleep durin the mornin."

Grryth then makes his way over to the northwest* corner of the room and turns to face the room. Once he is certian that he can keep all points of entry in his feild of vision, he throws back his cloak for a moment while he retreives two hand-axes from his belt. With both axes in hand he flips his hood up and slumps himself down into the corner. he then draws his cloak around him, appearing to the casual observer as perhaps nothing more than a discarded blanket thrown in the corner.

Northwest assuming I have the mental picture of this room correct. It's the corner where I can see the window, the pedestal, the door, the skylight and the front door. In my mind that spot exists, but I may be incorrect once we get to see the map. If I am incorrect then Grryth will be in the square that closests matches his requirements

[sblock=OOC] Actually, you're pretty close. The window is in the west part of the north wall. Both of the west and the east walls are curved. The center of the west wall contains the stove. In the center of the north wall are the book cases and to the east of the book cases is the pedestal. To the east of the pedestal is Gurdis's room. Her door is on the south wall of her bedroom. The south wall of her bedroom runs into the east wall. In the south-east "corner" is the fire-place and sitting chair. Just east of the stove and south of the book cases is a very large table with 10 chairs surrounding it. On the east part of the south wall is the front door. To the south-east of the front door is the privy (outside obviously).

*takes a breath* Anywho... you can definitely be crumpled, quite stealth-like in the north-west "corner" next to the window.

We have a problem then. Both Lo-Kag or Garrick only have normal vision. Would another group with low light vision be willing to switch?

[SBLOCK=OOC Dimsdale]
Well Grryth just stated that he will be pulling a double shift, which is the shift with Lo-Kag and Garrick. He has low-light vision.
Secondly, we are keeping the fireplace going all night long, so it is not like it would be dark in there, just low light furhter away from the fireplace.
Another option is to fire up a sunrod, which you place under cover, hiding the light. When you need that light you simply pull off the cover and boom, you have bright light in a 20 square radius.

sounds good to me. Let's do it!

[/sblock]

Lo-Kag finds a spot near the fireplace. He checks to see if there is plenty of wood to keep the fire going throughout the night. Noticing the room is a little too dim for his comfort, he places two more logs on the fire. He then removes a sunrod from his backpack, and places it in his shied hand. He fires it up. "Wooh...that's bright...sorry everyone. Hey, can you get me that large pot fromthe shelf over there?...Thankyou." He places the sunrod on the ground and places the put up-side-down over the top of it. The fireplace is to his right and the pot covering the sunrod is a foot away on the floor to his left. Satisfied that he's ready for guard duty, he stands with his back against the wall scanning the room from one side to the other and back as the flames of the fire reflect of his chainmail armor and his dragon scales. grips his longsword and begins his duty.

perception check: 1d20+1=6

apparently the glare from the fire is blinding his vision a bit

With the dwarf quiet in her room, the only available sounds are the bubbling and popping of the pot on the fire and your own breathing. The time goes by quickly though, as you find a deck of Three Dragon Ante in one of the dwarves drawers.

[sblock=Perception 20]

A few blocks away, you hear the sound of one air-bound ship crash into another and the two captains have a rather rowdy argument about who's fault it was. For the next hour, you can hear an investigation being done by the Inquisitives. Fortunately, neither party is found to be at fault due to a goblin dropping a bucket of rocks from a few stories up.
