Masumi, taking a clue from Alexia and her recent success, uses Residuum mixed with her own blood in an attempt to make a summoning circle to allow her to bring forth a stronger and more stable creature of the cold.

Alexia sees what Masumi is attempting and rushes to to the deva's side. "You've almost got it, kiddo. Not bad for a first attempt," she says with a smile that borders on a grimace.

Well, aren't you a wonderful influence. You've got half the group dabbling in this. Hopefully she'll forget all about it the next time she changes faces. The Karrn shakes her head, and notices the conductor standing nearby.

Alexia grabs his hand and forces his palm upward while looking into his eyes, "I'm very sorry, sir, but I need to borrow some of this. Our lives depend on it." Alexia trembles, takes a deep breath, and gives the conductor a shallow cut across his palm. She dabs her fingers in his blood before releasing his palm. "Again, I am so sorry," she repeats miserably.

Alexia shakes her head again and focuses her attention on the task at hand. With a mixture of the deva's, the conductor's, and her own blood she finishes the circle. "There, that should do it..." she says shakily.

At first, nothing seems to happen, but after a few seconds you hear a crackling sound and you can see the flames surrounding the engine turn to ice. Then, in the middle of the summoning circle, you can see a faint mist encircling a shadowy silhouette. The mist thickens, but instead of totally obscuring the figure, you can see more details. When the summoning circle is completely choked with mist, rising and swirling in a cylinder that reaches the ceiling of the cabin, you can see an eerily beautiful creature of the fey. When you can fully see her, she turns to Masumi and speaks.

"You summon Shaefa, princess of the realm of the Frost Fell. What is it that you would have me do, oh wise one?"

Lo-Kag notices the smoke filling the middle-class cabin. To vent the smoke, he leaps into the air with sword in hand and cuts a hole in the ceiling of the cabin. This creates a cross-breeze from the wealthy cabin and smoke begins to pour out of the hole like a chimney. This lets a considerable amount of heat out of the cabin and the wind created from the cross breeze makes the flames sputter.

[sblock=Skill Challenges]
[sblock=Round 1]
Round 1:

Skill Challenge 1: Engine Fire (1/6 successes 0/3 failures)

Masumi (20/39 HP) used Arcana and with the Conductors help gets a success.

Skill Challenge 2: Fire in the wealthy cabin (2/6 successes 0/3 failures)

Garrick (19/40 HP) and Alexia (29/43) use Arcana in concert and gain a success.

Grryth (28/40 HP; regen halted [not bloodied]) used Athletics to gain a success.

Skill Challenge 3: Fire in the middle class cabin (1/6 successes 0/3 failures).

Lo-Kag (19/45 HP) used Intimidate on the group of passengers, and with their help, manages to gain a success.

Gurdan (9/57 HP) used Perception to spot a way for Lo-Kag and some of the passengers to put out some of the fire in the middle-class cabin. This gives LO-KAG a +2 bonus on his next skill check if it's used on Skill Challenge 3.

NOTE: No further uses of intimidate can be used to gain a success on Skill Challenge 3. An attempt to further intimidate the passengers will result in an automatic failure.

[SBLOCK=DM Question]
Can I use a skill again that I have already achieved a success with on a particular challenge, or would I have to try that skill on a different challenge? Grryth has used Athletics on skill challenge 2, so if he wanted to use athletics again would he have to switch over to one of the other skill challenges?

Noticing that there's not much more to do on his wagon, Garrick decides to help out Lo-Kag, who seem to be doing a nice job getting most people to help. He does see however that their efforts are not coordinated and that in their efforts, some are actually bothering instead of helping.

Come on people, I understand you're all worried, but if you just calm down a bit you'll be of more help...

Diplomacy Check: 1d20+4=13 (9)

[sblock=OOC]Hmm ... skill checks are not my thing :D [/sblock]

[sblock=DMDanW] Grryth can use Athletics again if he wants to. You can use a skill more than once, with the exception of when I say you can't (which so far has only been Intimidate in Challenge 3). [/sblock]

Running into the heat of the middle-class cabin, Garrick attempts to use his natural charisma to gain the attention of the haphazard group of passengers. Unfortunately, his voice barely reaches above the sound of the roaring flames, and only one or two of the passengers even glance his way.

[sblock=Skill Challenge mini-update] Garricks' Diplomacy check earns the group a failure for Skill challenge 3. That makes it 2/6 sucesses and 1/3 failures [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC/Next Up] Hey guys, when you list the mechanics of your skill checks, PLEASE put which skill challenge you are going up against. For Grryth, I'm going to assume that this is against the same skill challenge as last round (skill challenge 2), but if I am mistaken, please correct me DMDanW.

NEXT UP: Gurdan[/sblock]

Gurdan feels a bit of panic rising inside of himself. He quickly squelches it, and trains his keen dwarven eyes on the flames in the next cabin. Nature spirits, guide me! he thinks. Show me a way to channel this flame!

(OOC: Short on time again (sorry) Nature +9 for Cabin 2- please roll for Gurdan - if successful he is hoping to channel the flames (perhaps pushing some tables/chairs around) to make them easier to contain and then put out )
