(Adventure) To Delmon's Aid (Creamsteak Judging)

"But anyway, if we wanna have a discussion like this, we should have it later, y'know? Like, when we're not in a tower that we just found a walking dead thing in? For now, let's just agree that we don't like these things, and should get rid of 'em - for whatever reason. An' find the dwarf, too, if he's still alive."

"That's my interest as well," Thurgan added.

OoC:Great RPing folks, nice interaction.

IC: Searching the second level of the Tower reveals little of what specifically transpired during any attack.
What you do discern is that the Zombie was killed by bolt and some other wound and then animated, as it is a feral orc and was obviously killed prior to animation. As to who animated it, there is no way to be sure.
There are signs that Felix positively identifies as signs of other intruders who met a grissly Fate. Twospots on the floor bear puddles of sludge, with an acrid stench t them, signs of acid. Most likely an Acid Orbor similar spell was used to kill them. Several battle axes and a mace lie upon the floor, as well as a shield bearing an odd rune, which Thale thinks might be the sign of Kroggoth. There is a similar stairway as before, leading up to another level, this door closed. A desk does turn up several reams of papers stacked neatly and accompanied by ink wells and quills.
Likewise, a bookcase lies in a state of semi shambles, as if someone was rooting through it but was disturbed. In fact, Thurgan and Velbrik have pieced together what they think may have happened.
It looks as if whoever attacked attained this level and a battle ensued between them and the Wizard, most likely. they had a few moments to ransack pror to him appearing and they spent it tearing through the bookcase and smashing a few chairs and a small table. The Wizard (or one of his Agents) appeared and the spells started to fly, as the puddles of acid showed. There is also sign of more mundane defenses, as the Zombie had a crossbow bolt and a horrid gaping wound as well. Whether the enemies proceeded or retreated is unknown, as is the wherabouts of the Wizard, Delmon...

Velbrik says, "Odd. It looks like they were searching for something. I wonder what it was that made them attack this tower?"

"No matter - we'll find out soon enough once we find Delmon." He gestures towards the staircase. "Shall we proceed? We must cautious."

A look of sadness crosses Felix's face as he hears teh other talk of Delmon...

"My friends we must consider, though I hope against the stars in the heavens it is not the case, that the mage we seek has already succumbed. We saw the wreckage strewn about the signs that this place has been transgressed as the Manor was before it. We must look for him, decency would demand nothing less, but know now that life is fleeting as the shadows across the clouds and the man may yet be dead."

Felix mutters an elven fragment of what sounds like verse beneath his breath...

"Never the less, ever onwards...apologies my friends, death is ever a shock to me..."

He states, seeming somewhat more collected and follows after Thale...

"Bah, dwarves endure, though the thought nice an' all, " Thurgan commented. "Even so, I'm sure he'd a given a better showin' . . . even fer a wizard. We checkin' the rest o' the tower?"

Thurgan was somewhat gruff at the thought of the dwarf Delmon being dead, though the hint of doubt did touch his eyes. Thurgan readied his trusty crossbow for further exploring.

OoC:ENWord is acting funny. I haven't really been able to post all day, and it won't let me upload pics or maps <Grrr!>.
Order is Thale,Troi and Felix,Thurgan and Velbrik.

IC:The door is unlocked and seems to be safe as far as traps go <I checked for Thurgan>.

Opening the door, you are met by light, as this chamber seems to be lit by several torches, Thale and Thurgan notice that this chamber seems to be a Living Room of sorts, with a fireplace (with coals burning low from the evening before) and half a dozen comfortable looking chairs as well as many small tables.
Thurgan sees blood here, a trail of it leading up the stairs at the rear of the chamber. As well, Thale has noticed a dead animal lying on the floor, a Crow, shot through by a crossbow bolt.

The examination of the Chamber is disrupted as another crssbow bolt slams into the door near Thurgan's head. Someone inside the room seems to have taken offense at your entry.

Thurgan and Thale see nothing (they are busy ducking, it would seem).
Troi sees a very strange thing not 40 feet away. A dwarf-sized form, gears and cogs, some form of automaton is moving towards the doorway. One of it's arms ends in a rather large axe-blade, while the other ends in a shield.
Felix sees this as well as another Automaton perhaps 45' away, crouching behind a chair,a crossbow visable.

Thurgan will level his crossbow and fire at one of the automatons not currently engaged in melee, then drop his crossbow and move toward the closest creature (drawing his war axe on the way). This all, assuming that he eventually sees the bad guys.

"There's sometin' ya don' see every day," Thurgan mused as he readied for battle.
