[Adventure] Trouble in Moonwatch (Judge: THB) - Part II

Feall also stays quiet during the exchange, moving on into town with the rest of the group. However, he does keep his ears open for floating rumors as the party weaves it's way through the town.

[sblock=OOC]Not sure if Perception or Streetwise is the appropriate skill here - perception would be the one to hear rumors, I suppose, but Streetwise would be the one to sift through them?[/sblock]

Streetwise is used for rumors, but it takes an hour. It's basically walking around talking to a bunch of folk in a bunch of places.

Perception really shouldn't be used for rumors except if the DM wants a specific conversation overheard.

You depart from the guards and head towards the Cobblestones Inn, following the directions from the half-orcs. It is a very nice locale and as you move towards the door, the bouncer gives a stern look, but after a few words, he allows you in. There are few patrons at this hour, sometime between lunch and dinner by your guess, and the proprietor, a human, comes up to you once you enter.

"Alright, so you stink to high heaven and got enough muck on my floor that I'll need to get Izmael to haul it away (gesturing to the bouncer) so I'll be guessin' that you need a bath, a room, and a meal? If so, that'll be 10 gold pieces each for the night." the man says.

If you agree, you are each given your own room, a hot bath with soaps and even a bottle of scented oil. You are able to scrub the last few days of travel away and once you head down to the common room, are served a traditional Shadow Marches meal of meats, which carry a very spicy flavour to them. As you finish your meal you are able to relax a bit for the first time in a while, but the inn begins to fill up as the sun begins its descent.

I'll give everyone one last shot to buy anything or any RP you'd like to have here [/sblock]

"The price is not cheap, but after so many day in a swamp, it seems to worth it." replies River. He gladly goes to his room to clean himself and his clothes and relax a bit before coming back down for a hot meal and a fresh ale.

Kortauhk looks over at Valahad.

"Kortauhk not gots ten golds. Kortauhk only gots...dis many," he says, pulling out his two gold pieces and showing them to the Kalashtar.

"Maybe Kortauhk go with Valahad? Kortauhk big, so Kortauhk sleep on floor."

"That price is not worth it. It's outrageous. Someone talk some sense into this man before I walk over every carpet in his place. For a reasonable price, I will avoid his carpets and walk carefully to my room and bath." Sheeva says disgusted.

10 GP is super high.

In real world terms, a normal room in the PHB is 5 SP or $50.

A luxury room in the PHB is 2 GP or $200.

This guy is asking us for $1000 each to get a room, bath and meal. Just like in real life where I wouldn't pay that, my PC wouldn't pay that in a fantasy world.

2 GP or even 3 GP, sure.

Who is our Diplomacy monkey? Is that Val or River?

[sblock=ooc]
Well that depends on where you're at also. In a very remote location that caters to the elite (aka dragonmarked houses) you probably could get away with this. Ex. the Burj Al Arab in Dubai charges $5k + a night for a "regular room" + a 10% service charge & 10% municipal fee. I'm not saying it's not outrageous, but sure if Val/River can succeed on a diplomacy DC 25 he'll drop it to 5 gp. [/sblock]

[SBLOCK=OOC]The Diplomacy monkey is Valahad, quickly followed by River, but River doesn't like to be called monkey ;) Just kd.

A luxury room in Montreal will probably cost less than the exactly same luxury room in Ouagadougou, because everything is available within the city without having to import everything. Some things could cost twice or 3 times the same in Ouagadougou than in Montreal... and I talk by experience.

Probably a good Diplomacy you might save a few gp, but you won't get a 3gp price, I'm quite sure.[/SBLOCK]

Feall, still accustomed to the Carnivale paying for accomodations and thus not aware at all of the relative costs and values of such things, dips his hand in his pouch and begins to draw out his gold before noticing Sheeva's reluctance.

He subtly removes his hand and waits to see how things play out before paying.

I'll give Valahad until tomorrow to post as I know there was a lot of issues with the site both last night and this morning when Evo normally posts. Stupid maintanance.
