[Adventure] Trouble in Moonwatch (Judge: THB) - Part II

OOC: I'm am leaving to work black friday. If River has indicated IC that he'll be doing a close burst heal, Pok will move adjacent and target either B1/B2 with a phantom bolt. If River does not indicate IC the heal is coming, Pok will target B2 with a phantom bolt, and then move to K44, free action Twilight Adept to hide from the Ballista with his cover. If you haven't NPC'd Pok by the time I get back, I'll update with a post.

Still coughing the miasma up, Pok heaves a deep breath and chokes as another gob of the dark liquid shoots into his mouth. *HACK* the delicate gnomish facial features squished together on a central point in the middle of Pok's face. Just as quickly as his face collapsed in on itself, they exploded away in all directions as the overwhelmed gnome began to vomit.

Still clutching his stomach, and covering his mouth, Pok began speaking a spell. Turning oddly, he spun to line the wand up, while still covering his mouth. The small pool of sickness appeared to glow white for the man attacking Pok, and then it jumped for his mouth.

Pok skipped backwards wrapping himself in the gloom of the place.

[sblock=OOC]

Takes 5 damage for starting turn adjacent to B2

[SBLOCK=OOC]Sorry, I was kinda in a rush and I just gave a suggestion... anyway, I think I'll do something else.[/SBLOCK]

River continue to pray his goddess to heal his companions and then take a defensive position to ward himself from any further harm..

[SBLOCK=OOC]Start: Regen 2 => 15/69hp
Action Point: Second Wind (River regain 17 hp => 32/69hp)

If from M49, River have a line of effect to K44:
Standard: Healer's Mercy (1d6+14=16). Pok, Sheeva and Rumbum can spend an HS and regain an extra 16hp and can make a save. River is weakened.

If from M49, River do not have a line of effect to K44:
Move: Shift to N50
Standard: Healer's Mercy (1d6+14=16). Sheeva and Rumbum can spend an HS and regain an extra 16hp and can make a save. River is weakened.

I would think at first that from the lower left corner of M49, I can have a line of effect with K44 (River peak his head out of the doorway), but I'll leave the call to our benevolent DM.[/SBLOCK]

Rumbum smiles a warm smile at Pok. You help Rumbum...Rumbum help... Before he can finish his sentence the dark magic engulfs his body.

Aggghhhh Get away from me black stuff! The orc shakes his head violently and looks for a foe to charge. He finds one next to the healer. YOU GET AWAY FROM THE ONE WHO HEAL RUMBUM! In blinding speed the orc overpowers the foe. However, on his last step he trips over a piece of rubble, causing his sure strike to miss. The sound of his waraxe clanking off the wall is deafening...sparks fly

Feall sees his enemy fall and turns his attention to the ballistae. Shadows converge and swirl around the assassin and the nearest ballista, thickening rapidly until both are wrapped in inky darkness.

The black blade of his falchion lashes out of the shadows at the northern ballista, but he's overeager with his strike and it clangs harmlessly against the platform.

Lucky for Pok the one with the 22 Passive Perception is the corpse lying in O46 now. Also, one correction with Moonstride - it's an immediate reaction, not interrupt. [/sblock]

"Thanks for getting that miasma away from me Pok. This is getting downright annoying." Sheeva says as the winds die down.

The cultist almost falls down the stairs, but manages to catch himself at the last moment.

River continue to pray his goddess to heal his companions and then take a defensive position to ward himself from any further harm..

The cultists stands and charges at River, the closest target as his eyes cloud over in rage. His blade stabs the shifter hard, as he twists the weapon for added effect.

The other man spots Pok in the corner and moves into a position that affords the gnome no room to escape. The wizard's form becomes wavy and insubstantial, but the cultists still manages to catch him with his blade.

The ballista slides across the ground via means unseen, and unleashes another barrage, this time only affecting River.

The other glides down the stairs and "steps" out of the darkness, unleashing hell on the adventurers. The bolts cause little damage to Sheeva, more an annoyance really, but River finally succumbs to his wounds and drops at Rumbum's feet.

B1 save - 1d20=12

B1: stands, charges River - charge on river (-2 for mark, +1 for charge) (1d20+14-2+1=28, 2d8+8=20) hits for 20

B2: moves to L45, triggering Moonstride, but there's nowhere that Pok can shift that's "farther from the triggering enemy." as per the powers wording. You are still insubstantial though. MBA on Pok (1d20+14=24, 2d8+8=16) hits for 8 after insub

Ballista : shift to M40, lightning burst on N48 - vs ref (Sheeva, Rumbum, River (gains +2 cover bonus I think from Rumbum) (1d20+11=17, 1d20+11=15, 1d20+11=29) only hits River for lightning (1d10+5=6)

Ballista 1: move to P44: attack N48 - vs ref (sheeva, rumbum, river) (1d20+11=28, 1d20+11=28, 1d20+11=28) wow...three 17's? lightning (1d10+5=6) but min damage again...only 1 point to Sheeva though. I will be using different rules for unconsciousness going forward, but as I didn't bring them up before the fight I don't think it's fair to spring them on you now.

wow the ballista's are 2/10 right now.

OOC: How did B1 do a one square charge on River? He should have been prone in M52, stand up, move one square to N51, turn over. Both sets of stairs look like there are 6 stairs taking up 3.5 squares.

[sblock=ooc]
I had him in M53 after his save. [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]
Well, obviously. :lol:

But shouldn't he have stopped in M52, the last normal square? If not, why did he need a save at all? He could have just been pushed all of the way to M54 and charged back up the stairs.

I'm ok with you ruling it that way, but it seems odd because the players then don't know which squares are safe and unsafe to push foes to and we'll then have to start posting questions about it in the future.
[/sblock]

[SBLOCK=OOC]If I understand well, at M49, River had a line of effect to K44 and Pok. In that case, River shouldn't had shifted and should have remained at M49, as you can see form my previous post.

That wouldn't have prevented River to be done, but River should at M49, which mean B1 should be at M50 or N50, which mean Rumbum should have the chance to Combat Challenge B1 as he attack me.[/SBLOCK]

OOC: To make things obvious, yes Pok spent the surge+ that River afforded. I knew moonstride was a reaction, and typed interrupt by accident. Luckily r1 can handle my dumb-ass and avoid mistakes. I'll update with a post later this evening.
