[Adventure] Trouble in Moonwatch (Judge: THB) - Part II

Gods damn it . . . stand still! The cloud of shadows surrounding him swirls as Feall gathers his will once more, focusing through his black blade. The darkness is drawn into his falchion and the Drow winks from view. The ballista's shadow flickers as the slender Assassin steps forth from it, driving his falchion deep into it's side.

[sblock=Actions]Free: Assassin's Shroud vs Ballista 1
Free: Dismiss Cloud of Darkness (Don't know if this is possible, but it's gonna disappear at the end of his turn anyway and it's a cool image to me)
Standard: Teleport to Q44, Inescapable Shadow vs. Ballista 1 (AC) (1d20+14=26) for (4d4+11+2d6.minroll(2)=34) Damage[/sblock]

The relief of River's god was short lived for Pok, and he quickly was forced to call upon defensive skills just to keep conscious.

Sheeva! Help! screamed the gnome, Can't you get this guy off me? The gnome covered his mouth and held his breath, but he knew that would only work for so long...

OOC: @KarinsDad if Sheeva can't move B2 or that is somehow incredibly inconvenient just let me know, so I can take my turn. @renau1g, I think Pok is at 23/40. He started at 5, then Rivers heal for 16+10 for Pok's surge value brings him to 31. After 8 damage from the MBA he'd be at 23 right? Then when he starts his turn, he'll take 5 necrotic if B2 is still adjacent, and be at 18/40.

[SBLOCK=OOC]If I understand well, at M49, River had a line of effect to K44 and Pok. In that case, River shouldn't had shifted and should have remained at M49, as you can see form my previous post.

That wouldn't have prevented River to be done, but River should at M49, which mean B1 should be at M50 or N50, which mean Rumbum should have the chance to Combat Challenge B1 as he attack me.[/SBLOCK]

ooc: Rumbum's attack pending on whether or not he gets CC on B1. :)

Well, obviously. :lol:

But shouldn't he have stopped in M52, the last normal square? If not, why did he need a save at all? He could have just been pushed all of the way to M54 and charged back up the stairs.

I'm ok with you ruling it that way, but it seems odd because the players then don't know which squares are safe and unsafe to push foes to and we'll then have to start posting questions about it in the future.

Ok, so Pok is at 18/40, correct.

I shouldn't have made a save for the cultist, there was no need as he couldn't "fall" down the stairs.

River can be at M49, B1 is @ M50, and Rumbum gets a CC attack [MENTION=79956]dimsdale[/MENTION] FYI.

Sorry about that everyone...

[sblock=OOC]
Just FYI. renau1g's first ruling that River could not see Pok was correct.

At square M49, River can only see down the N row. He cannot see ANY of the M row in that direction, let alone the K row. He cannot even see M48. There's a wall in the way. If you look carefully, that wall extends into the N row. Even if it didn't and just came to the corner, it would still block line of sight (and hence, line of effect) into the M row.

This can be seen on page 274 of the PHB for line of sight. The edge of the wall between M48 and M49 prevents line of sight and hence, line of effect.[/sblock]

"Sorry Pok, but River is in worse straits than you. YOU. Orc. Go attack this one." Sheeva shouts out to the orc, pointing at enemy B2. "I'll take care of that one" indicating enemy B1.

[sblock=Actions]
Standard: Lightning Strike on B1
Move: Move to Q44, avoiding any Opportunity Attack by the ballista

23 vs. Reflex, 17 damage to B1, 4 damage to B2

This should hit. If it doesn't, use Lucky Charm to get it to hit.

renau1g, I need to know if B1 is killed before deciding on Sheeva's move action. If he is not killed, slide him to O52.

Rumbum strikes the zealot, making it pay for looking away from the fighter. Not good to look away from me!

[sblock=attack]
Free Attack due to Combat Challenge: 1d20+12 vs M1 AC: 21 for 9
[/sblock]

After the attack the orc leans over the fallen cleric. Wake up! Wake up!

[sblock=heal check]
ooc: I don't have my books with me. If heal skill is a minor action then Rumbum will attempt to stablize River's wounds at this point 1d20+2= 15 . If it is a standard action, then the heal roll skill check is ignored, as Rumbum will use the action for the following attack
[/sblock]

Rumbum then turns to Sheeva after hearing her command, spotting the foe she's talking about. OK! Rumbum does that right now! With blazing speed, he charges the other zealot, chopping down hard with his axe. His brutal attack almosts severs the foe's left arm, rendering it useless.
