"If anyone does not understand the plan, I'll explain it." Sheeva does so.

"Let's go."

[sblock=plan]The plan is for the entire group to head together under the moonlight to about one quarter mile away from the camp with Sheeva about 80 feet in front of the group since she knows the way. Once they get there, the three sneaky people will sneak forward with Pok hiding behind the camp, and Feall/Sheeva taking hidden positions on the opposite side of the main trail from the path. After about 10 minutes or so, Val and River will light lights and then walk up the trail. Val and River will be on the lookout for the side path. If they start walking past it, Sheeva or Feall will throw a rock to get their attention. If the creatures come to investigate the light, the main group will attack and Pok will free the prisoner. If they do not, we'll probably need to storm the camp.[/sblock]

The group gets set up, Pok moves to a hidden spot behind the enemy lines, his natural stealth covering him well.

You are closest to the tent with the prisoner. You see one of the tentacled creatures give a low whistle and a pair of shadow-dogs jump into the forest, disappearing from view as you see the light approaching up the path that the group is supposed to come up. The other creatures begin to go investigate, a new member is there as well, a hulking humanoid with glistening pink skin and arms that droop to its sides. It resembles an ape with its flesh turned inside out. It carries a log in its hands. The other, smaller ones point it to lead the way.

[sblock=Others]
You see a trio of creatures coming from the camp, although there seems to be someone that Pok's familiar hadn't described, a hulking humanoid with glistening pink skin and arms that droop to its sides. It resembles an ape with its flesh turned inside out. It carries a log in its hands. It leads the way with the pair of tentacled creatures following behind.

[sblock=Korthauk]
You hear the creatures discussing outside, then you hear them walking away from you[/sblock]

[sblock=Perception DC32]
You see a humanoid shape hiding to the north of the path

[sblock=In the Prisoner Tent] Kortauhk struggles against his bindings and tries to make some sound loud enough to hear from just outside of the tent.

"Hey! Kortauhk need help! Help Kortauhk! Rope hurt Kortauhk arms and legs! Kortauhk no want get beat no more! Help!" [/sblock]

[sblock=Pok]
You hear a voice calling out from the tent.

ooc - please read Kal's post[/sblock]

There's a surprise round for Sheeva, Feall, and Pok, I forgot to mention in previous post[/sblock]

"What manner of creature are these?", Valahad says into Rivers mind. His blade in hand, the paladin stays vigilant.

[sblock=Dungeoneering/ooc]
I assume River is holding the lightsource, since he doesn't use weapons. Did we gain a milestone recently so we get another MI daily usage? init (1d20+2=11)

dungeoneering to id creatures. (1d20+6=25) Sweet. I bet that is the highest I'll roll all battle, but lets hope not.[/sblock]

Feall waits patiently, gauging his attack to coincide with Sheeva's. When the time is right he flicks a shroud over his target and lets a Firestorm crossbow bolt fly at Tentacle 33.

[sblock=Actions/Rolls]To Hit (1d20+11=15) (likely missing, but I'll roll damage just in case)
Damage (1d8+7+1d6=19)
Shroud (1d6=6)
(Figures I'd almost max out on damage on a botched TH roll . . .)[/sblock]

[sblock=Assassin's Shrouds] Mowgli, don't forget that if you save up more than 1 assassin's shroud on a target, that if you miss an attack that you're using it on, you still damage the target by 1 less shroud. So if you shroud a target 2 times, you are guaranteed at least 1d6 damage on the attack that you invoke the shrouds. Invoking them every round does give you 1d6 bonus damage every round, but if you miss, you lose the shroud and it does no damage. Better to shroud every round, but invoke only every other round IMHO. Of course YMMV. [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Yeah, typically I try to put at least two (three or four is better) on a target before I attack. Usually I do this by shrouding one opponent and attacking another (sometimes for a couple of rounds), then attacking the shrouded one. In this case, I was trying to think what Feall would do - and decided that he'd try to do as much damage as possible to one target while he had surprise. I'd love to have dropped a shroud on him and then waited a round to do another, but unfortunately he doesn't have the feat yet that allows him to shroud a target unnoticed so that would have tipped his hand.

Thanks for keeping an eye on me, though. Tactical thinking isn't my strong suit, and 4e isn't my strong system, so I need all the help I can get . . .[/sblock]
