Ok, we were discussing a few character concepts that seem extremely difficult in the context of AL.
Eldritch Knight with the Ritual Caster feat for some utility magic options.
Warlock with Pact of the Tome and Book of Ancient Secrets for the entire Ritual spell list.
Wizard of any sort.
With getting only 75 gold when you level, how can you populate any kind of spell book? Then someone told us that you can use the temp gold found during the adventure to fill your spells, as long as you finish before the game night ends and you have the scribe time during the game.
Ok, if true, that helps a bunch. Is it true? I don't have my AL guide in front of me, but I don't remember that in there.
Assuming it is true, I can make use of any wizard book or scrolls we find and don't use to fill a spellbook. Hooray! We are at least into the realms of possibility now. Difficult, but possible.
However, we don't actually find many scrolls or spell books. Does it also mean I could use that money to buy a scroll and use that scroll up scribing it into my spell book? If so those again become desirable character concepts.
