I agree that the types of adventures you list would be a cool change of pace.

(You might consider a copy & paste of the actual post if you want a lot of feedback here, though.)

Thanks Jester.

The whole blog post:

I have a confession to make, it was not until a few years ago that I even read an adventure, let alone used one to run a game. Oh sure, I played in a campaign that was a series of Goodman Games adventures strung together. And I am quite certain that I played in one of the classic adventures back in the day, but the DM did not tell us (well, atleast he did not tell me, I don't know about anyone else). But now I really am use to adventures since I lead a busy life and don't have the time I need to write my own adventures.

So what kind of advenures do I want to see in D&DNext / 5e. I want an adventure really shows of what you can do in 5e that you cannot do any other adventures name:

I want a mid/high level adventure with low level bad guys

We've all done the "kill the orc raiders" at 1st-3rd level, but beyond that orcs become an individual enemy because if you had 7th level orc raiders, they would be strong enough to conquer a sizable region. But with D&DNext, you can face them at 7th level with their 1st level stats and it would stilll make sense. There would just be more of them. So instead of facing off against a raiding party, you would be fighting an entire tribe. But what would be equally cool would be:

Facing an enemy at low level that you could not possibly beat alone, but you have the whole town backing you up

Unless you are playing Dragonlance, dragons are darn rare in published adventures. The last time I faced off against a dragon was about 2-3 years ago.

I want to face off against a dragon at 3rd or 4th level. And I'm not talking about a newborn dragon either. I'd like to be facing a dragon that the players would be expected to defeat at 7th-10th level without help. But I want to do it at much lower level with help. Like half the town fighting to save their crops. Sure they know that some of them are going to die, but it is better to have a few of them die and kill the dragon then to let them all die as well as their children and elderly die in subsequent dragon attacks due to their own inaction. This is the first edition of D&D where that is possible and I am thrilled to do just that.

A new take on the old adventures.

Reposting the first edition classic adventures in the playtest is great and all, but I would like them to make a bit more sense. Take the Caves of Chaos for example. Why are all those monsters living in one enclosed area and how are they not killing each other? Can you get the kobolds to ... stop doing whatever it is they are doing to cause the players to kill them by talking to them? Can you get the kobolds to join you in your quest to stop the vampire (see previous adventure request). That would be really cool. But as it is now, the adventure assumes a killing spree for no reason. I would like that adventure redone to make sense. Heck, I'd be ok with that adventure split into half a dozen different adventures if they incorporated things like reasons why you are going after the monsters in the first place. Make the goblins burn something down and the players track them back to their cave. How about the kobolds steal babies to bring them back to King Torg (All Hail King Torg!). Give a reason for the killing.

What kind of Adventures do You Want to See? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

In the meantime, happy gaming.

Some of those ideas have been done in other modules, they would just need to fixed up for the new edition. i've played in games with dragons at 3rd level with the help of the town and without. most of the time when we had the help of the town it wasn't in the module, but that didn't mean we couldn't convince them to help. but all those ideas would be great.
