Advertorials with no game content in Dragon

Hmm, I wonder how a budget of one D20 Modern article a month would be greeted by a majority of Dragon readers.

Well... when Polyhedron lived in Dungeon, readers of Dungeon more or less marched on Paizo with burning torches and burning pitchforks. I would guess that a d20 Modern section in Dragon would be greeted with similar wrath and outrage.

...except with napalm and Uzis instead of torches and pitchforks, probably.

Poop.

Would a submission that contained spells designed for use for both D&D and D20 Modern campaigns (to the extent that spells for each are terribly different) be greeted that way by you guys?

It's all a matter of scale, really. I agree that 20 pages a month is way too much, but the occasional bit would probably not go too badly.

As someone who recalls being part of a crowd who just took their burning torches and simply walked the other way.... I agree with you.

Just for a counter-stance, I'm an "old-school" reader myself, and I, for one, don't miss the non-D&D material in the slightest. I know it's an old saw, but it still holds true: I buy Dragon for D&D material. If I want non-D&D material, I'll buy other stuff. I don't want non-D&D material in my Dragon.

That said, I'm also with the group that says "If it helps with Dragon's revenue, and it doesn't presage any larger changes, I can live with it."

Yeah, pretty much how I feel as well and I've been reading Dragon since about 1984. However, if I really want in depth coverage of a video game, I'll subscribe to PC Gamer or another such mag. I'm not looking for that in Dragon, nor do I want it really, but if it's gonna help imrpove Dragon overall, I can live with it.
