Advice needed before my rogue commits suicide

I wonder how far out we really are, other than "a few days" travel. Maybe our wizard could teleport us back and we could do some shopping. A couple wands would make this a whole lot easier. And if he can only take 1 back with him, eh... no loss :P

Frankly, I'd wait until after the next battle. Let the idiots get themselves killed and then loot their corpses before heading back to town. You should be able to do this without any blatant moral repercussions, just so long as you initially hang back but still win the fight.

Hrm.... maybe. But if they got res'd (via DM being nice and autoresing) they'll be even worse than they already are b/c they're naked. He'll just say that we should split our resources. I'm not splitting something I fairly stole in the 1st place!

Well, any GM who tells the party how to split their Ill-Gotten gains is not worth gaming with. I worked damn hard to steal them....In one party we had the coolest treasure division method..."the rock". It was a cool magic rock, but we had no idea what it did, so we decided it would be used to divide treasure. Whovere had the rock, had first pick, then had to pass it. The same person could not have the rock again, until everyone got a pick. Once the last person picked, he could pass the rock to anyone but himself, and the Chaos started all over again. My character( a cleric ) revolted and was killed, when the Magic User, took a holy artifact that I was looking for. It was alot of fun.

I recommend not accepting the auto-res. Tell the DM it's not fair but if in doubt just keep killing them all the while screaming "they're ghouls! they're ghouls!"

Oh, no our DM doesn't force a split of eq like that. He would just be like "well, it's up to your party if they want to let you borrow some junk until you get back to town".

How would you go about massively killing a "real life" friend repetitively without insulting him and risk corrupting the friendship?

If they're good friend, you should be able to speak out game about their tactics without hurting their feelings. If you think it's metagaming I think you would be right, but if you think such "behavior" should be banned, I'm sorry for you.

The other suggestion might be: take the game less seriously, just like them. I used to play with friends who didn't take the game as seriously as I can sometime do and in these circumstances, I either pass or join the fun by not taking it more seriously than they.

As for the undead campaign screwing your character concept, you should talk about that with your GM. It's a scenario issue IMO. A good D&D GM should mkae sure every character's abilities get some game use once in a while (i.e. every session) else your character is ill suited to the campaign. Tell him about the problem and ask for his suggestions!

We started a new campaign a while ago with many of my friends from different RPG background and 3 different (incompatible) playing style took place at the table. Since then, we've talked about it together and found a compromise that suited everyone. Since then, we're having about twice as much fun. And we still have some game problems that needs to be adressed and we're metagaming it real time to make the game more enjoyable for everyone. If banning metagaming ruins the the fun, your not handling the metagaming the proper way IMO. It's all about fun!

Nod. I've generally got a short fuse when it comes to outright stupidity. Maybe I'm just over reacting a bit. Hopefully the DM will let us talk before we start gaming and we can all work something out.

And as for another question I had.... I forgot it, so someone just answer it please :D

PrinceZane-

First off, dude, if these guys are your RL friends, I would seriously try to tone down the "stupid" comments. Admittedly, their attention to detail and tactics need work, but that might just be more reflective of their playstyle than intelligence. Somehow, just saying, "your tactics could use some improvement- here are a few suggestions" might go farther than, "boy, that was a stupid move."

OOC, I would try helping out with tactical 'cheat-sheets' for each character, with the main methods they should use. This does not have to be anything lengthy or fancy- just a quick bulletpoint list of methods for different situations might do wonders, as quick reminders to the players in-game. For example, the fighter's sheet might say something like, "mobile skirmisher- use terrain and cover" if he is a dexterity-based PC, or "melee tank- take out enemy mooks with great cleave feat".

IC, perhaps your (presumably high-INT) rogue could become the tactical leader of the group. Think of Cyclops keeping Wolverine in line for the benefit of the team. That is not metagaming, but rather effective tactics of a different sort. Instead of trying to fight undead as a rogue (a sub-optimal tactic.. LOL) you could be the team strategist, sort of a field commander dude. I also like the earlier idea of using a wand of CLW as an offensive weapon against the undead.

GOOD point.

And it fits the idea of rogue as streetwise survivor.
