Cleric or Druid -zilla. Basically he is talking about the Cleric and Druid classes generally being more powerful than the other core classes.

Ah. Thanks! I've never really played in games where such PCs were optimized to that point.

Probably just a case of designers converging independently on the same thing.
I just read over the combat rites - they seem to be an early step towards that convergence. The ritual warrior is a per-day swordsage with access to just a small list of boosts.

I'm fairly sure the Ritual Warrior was Monte's own idea. And years before Tome of Battle was made. The two are unrelated, with the sole exception that Mearls or someone at WotC might've thought the Ritual Warrior was cool and decided to emulate it in the ToB.

Agreed that they are probably unrelated. (I find combat rites far less complicated actually.) However, Monte himself wrote that the ritual warrior was inspired by an idea of Mike Mearls'. Just to set that record straight.

Mike wasn't working for us yet, I don't think

Mike wrote Mystic Secrets for Arcana Unearthed. You published combat rites in Arcana Evolved. He probably wasn't working for you while you wrote AE, but he had worked for you before AE.
